Payday 2: Spring break! Woo!

Payday 2 Spring Break event!

The Hype Train has been fueled up and it is time to reap the rewards!

Over the coming days Overkill will be releasing the milestones from the Hype Train pre-order event, we have already received the first two rewards out of a total of 13, the two one-day heists "Armored Transport: Train Heist" which was previously only obtainable after a random event on other Armored Transport heists and the first day of the "Rats" job as a stand-alone 1-day heist called "Cook-off", a risk/reward mission. Overkill also released their "Side Jobs" project which is essentially daily and weekly challenges to obtain weapon mods for weapons of the players choice, masks and money.

The remaining features are still to come over the next 11 days, which will include: Two brand new heists, the "Car Shop" and "Hoxton Revenge" heists, new enemy type, weapon mods and a new character called "Bonnie" who should come along with her own Perk Deck as seems customary these days.

Will add the other updates in a new post.

So Bonnie the Scotslady has been released along with a new double-barreled shotgun and the new perk deck called "The Gambler". The Gambler is a support focused perk deck that allows you to heal when picking up ammo of dead enemies and share this healing with your teammates and in further in, share the ammo pick with your teammates perfect for that supportive mastermind build!

Tonight is the unveiling and implementation of the "Have a Safe Trip" stage of Spring Break, updates to follow!

So "Have a Safe Trip" was the, a bit vague, preview of the Golden Grin Casino heist, which, from what they showed, sounds like a good 1-day heist geared for full premades.

17th was the implementation of the now very much discussed SWAT Turret. Many players are finding this new enemy plainly, broken, and sadly enforcing a nessecity to bring certain weapons (and that being paid DLC only weapons) to certain heists when going loud, as the only effective way to deal with the turret is the new RPG as far as I can understand from the forums, though Overkill have hinted at a way for "smarter players" to deal with them, and in a sort of weird twist asked to not have it spread all over the internet right away.

More updates to come as more Spring Break stages are implemented!

So today we got something pretty cool from Overkill, the new Car Shop Heist. This heist introduces an entirely new mechanic to the game, driving.

The heist is, for the most part a stealth only mission with some rather open areas with a lot of sharp corners, that is geared towards group play, but is, with some difficulty solo-able. The heist seems more a "proof of concept" for the car driving mechanic. Sadly so far the cars handle... Badly, the driving is new but ultimately needs a lot of work to be satisfactory.

But it is really nice to see them try out new stuff and to be honest, I find it quiet entertaining to watch this very careful dance of sneaking and managing objectives turn into a massive explosion and a race to the docks (And yes there is an achievement for the first player in a 4-player game to reach the drop-off at the docks).

So we got three days left of the Spring Break event, and thus three more updates to come, those being "A kid with a new toy", "Birds of a feather flock together" and "A dish best served cold". Two of these being the promised Butcher Mod Pack #2 and the Hoxton Revenge Heist at the end. The only two other goals that have not been unveiled yet are the heisters flown to LA and the PAYDAY CON stuff, so as far as I can see there is a surprise in there waiting for us...  Beside the mentioned secrets in the "Behind the scenes" videos Overkill has been putting out.

So the end of Spring Break has come, Hoxton Revenge heist is here! A bit on the short side at a 1-day job that takes somewhere between 15-20 min. On the other hand it has a lot of great design if you decide to go stealth on this, the loud part is a bit underwhelming, but hey, it is a good heist and it is free.

To top of the end of Spring Break Starbreeze Studios has extended their agreement with Digital Bros to support Payday 2 for another two years starting August 2015, so we will have more updates coming till at least 2017! Let's get heisting fellas!

It was nice to get some "pro" help from you and Exigo. We pretty much doubled our money and levels in about 2 heists, since we're noobs.

I think perhaps I could do with a Payday 2 tips thread though, as there seems to be a lot going on. When my friends and I play we seem to get caught and end up going loud a lot sooner than we'd like.
I don't care who you are. When it comes to flying a Galaxy - better you than Ryu.
