[WoW Application] Aldrion - Resto Shaman
« on: 10 November, 2012, 12:06:54 am »
RAIDER APPLICATION FORM

Name:Erwin
Age: 22
Country: Netherlands
What other games apart from WoW do you play?: Starcraft II, Diablo 3
A bit about yourself:
My name is Erwin, living in Eindhoven, Netherlands. I'm a 4th degree student applied physics. I have been a gamer for many years, started playing WoW in early TBC. Besides being a social raider, I am actively online a lot and always up to anything aslong as it is not pvp ( I just get angry when in BG). I also play SCII and used to play D3.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:

Armory Link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/ravencrest/Aldrion/simple

Character name: Aldrion
Class: S 90haman
Level:
Current server: Ravencrest-Alliance
Spec(s): Restoration mainspec, enhancement offspec
Professions: Alchemy (600), Leatherworking (600)
How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?: Too much. I'm mostly on every night, sometimes I watch a good movie and I'm not on, but only when there is no raid  :D
What high level alts do you have?: 90 Druid 90 Hunter 85 priest 85 warrior 85 warlock. All except the warlock on ravencrest, warlock is on doomhammer.

ABOUT YOU AS PLAYER:

Do you have Teamspeak? Yes, and I have a mic and I use it.

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use: BigWigs, Grid, Classtimers, Recount/Omen

We expect all members to attend any raids with food and flasks to last the whole raid night and being repaired and ready to pull bosses at 20.00: Always have my flasks and a stack or two/three feasts or food on me.

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30. On which days will you be available for the whole duration? (A raidgroup usually only raids up to 3 nights a week)
Wednesday: Yes
Thursday: Yes
Friday: Not always
Saturday: Not Always
Sunday: Yes
Monday: Yes
Tuesday: Yes
I am ok with raiding 3-4 days a week but prefer not to raid 5 days.

Have you been in another guild? (Yes/No): Yes

If so: Which one(s)? And why did you leave?:
Synergy - Ahn'Qiraj horde - Skillwise best guild I've been in. Raiding with them up to ICC when most people stopped raiding.
Involuntary - Doomhammer Alliance - Social guild with some raids. Guildleaders got RL problems and the guild died.
Lost Chapter - Doomhammer + Ravencrest Alliance - The guild where I've been for a year, I've given everything for the guild in the past year but I feel that only very few people do the same. Many login at 19.59 and expect to raid and loot without effort. It may be clear that this isn't working out atm

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap:
MoP: 6/6 MSV, 1/6 HoF 0,9% on 2nd boss (10m - other group did kill it) and 60%-ish on Garalon25. Due to the high amount of players not attending and those attending not performing we haven't tried any HC yet.
Cata 1/13H T11 6/7H T12 8/8H T13 cleared All heroic bosses during DS including Ragnaros.
Wrath T7 all cleared. T8 Ulduar+HMs when it was current (includes algalon). No ICC hc kills before cata.
TBC Cleared all up to 3/6SWP before wrath

Please link, if possible, any recent relevant logs (www.worldoflogs.com), so we can get an idea from your current performance in raids:
Can't seem to find Lost Chapter or The Lost Chapter on either Ravencrest or Doomhammer.. but one of our officers always uploads logs..

IMPORTANT:

Now when you are done with the "basics", we want you to explain a little about different aspects of your character.

Character:

Why did you choose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?:
I've been Shaman since I started playing I've always just kept on playing it.
I use LW and Alchemy because LW always adds a good enchant for intellect and with Alchemy I can choose which bonus I want to use as healer; Int or Spirit. The bonus on spirit is slightly higher as intellect on Alchemists these days.

Talent specialisation:
The talents for Restoration are pretty obvious.
Astral shift for defensive CD
Earthgrab Totem to help when overwhelmed by adds like Will of the Emperor.
Lvl45 tier none of the 3 add any value to healing in PvE
Ancestral Swiftness due to 5% passive haste and able to instant-heal a low health raidmember every minute (1.5min in 5.1)
Healing tide totem because its Healing throughput is simply superior
Unleashed Fury as elemental blast costs too much time to cast which otherwise could be used casting heals

Glyphs; Riptide + healing stream totem + Spiritwalkers grace; these are fight-dependant.

Would you be willing to change your specialization for the guild?: Yes.. and no.. I have tried elemental before and I prefer not playing that.
Do you have two or more specs you know well enough to use in a Raiding environment?: I have raiding experience with both Resto and Enhance
Please list any talents and glyphs you switch out for certain fights:
I don't switch our talents ( Nothing to switch out )
I switch our glyphs depends on movement or not: Riptide + Grace for movement, Healing Wave for static, Telluric current for static
Water shield glyph is used only for very few fights where the reactive proc outweights the passive MP5 bonus
Healing stream glyph I basically always use this ( most fights have some form of elemental damage )

Gear:

Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete in the encounters of the current Heroic tier? (and if not, what is your character sufficiently geared for?): Yes it is.
Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?: Nothing major.
What stat-priority do you currently use (both secondary and primary stats, especially for tanks and healers), when gemming, enchanting and reforging your gear? (for both your main and off-spec):
Restoration:
Single-target healing: 871 Haste > Crit ( due to 1.68 modifier ) > Mastery
AoE Healing: 871 Haste > Mastery > Crit ( 1.0 modifier on healing rain etc )
871 haste is because our totem healing ticks are bugged and dont correctly scale with haste at the moment. The next haste softcap is 5676 which I cannot reach ( and manaregen cant support this either )

Enhancement: 7,5% expertise > 15% spellhit > Agility > Mastery=Haste > Crit

Guild:

Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?: No.
Why do you want to join MoX?: Seems like a nice guild with raiding and social aspect and plenty of rules to prevent the bad stuff that is happening with my current guild where people don't get punished for low attendance and "Standing in the fire"
What type of guild are you looking for?: A guild where people put up equal effort but are social in their play nevertheless

What are your goals in wow, what do you want to achieve and how long do you plan to keep playing?
My maingoal... is to have fun! After that, I want to kill dragons. Yes, I find all bosses to look a little like dragons!

Additional Information:

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter (Yes/No): Yes I read the entire post supplied in link on the recruitment forum post.

Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know?
I am ok with raiding till 0:00 but I prefer not to extend further past that time. That doesn't mean I disconnect at 0:01. I mostly talk a lot on vent/TS but not after 23:00 when my parents are asleep. I still live at home due to financial reasons, please understand this :)

I like to stream my games also, and wish to continue doing this especially when progressing Heroic raids. My PC can handle high-ultra specs while streaming on very high FPS.

Hey Aldrion,

Thank you for applying to MoX.
Great application you've put up here, which makes me curious, how did you find us/hear about MoX?
From what I can see everything looks pretty good, I will have one of our Resto Shamans check out your application as well, see if they have any tips/thoughts to share.
When you talk about the recruitment forum post, I'm guessing you're referring to the one on the battle.net forums? Just to be sure, the MoX Charter we mean, can be found here: http://www.moxguild.com/index.php?page=page1464

Looking foward to your reply,

Hello Erwin,

PvE isn't really my territory, and I wouldn't have replied if it weren't for you being a shaman too.

Out of curiosity: Why do you reforge everything to crit? You haven't reached soft haste cap and apparently it seems you only have 2.3% haste. I might be wrong, but I thought haste was to be the most important stat after intellect and spirit? (atleast to 12.5% soft cap). And isn't crit kind of rubbish for resto anyway?

Atleast it would be for PvP, but I guess I could be wrong seeing I don't know much of resto MoP PvE  :D

@ Troph

As far as I know, most PvE Shamans don't go for a lot of Haste; Mastery en Crit are generally valued more :)

Ah well, as I said - I weren't sure - just picked up on this: http://www.icy-veins.com/restoration-shaman-wow-pve-healing-statistics-priority-reforging

which could be wrong facts, but here they say:

1. Intellect;
2. Spirit (until you are comfortable with your mana regeneration);
3. Haste Rating (until the soft haste cap that is the easiest to attain, see below);
4. Mastery Rating;
5. Critical Strike Rating;

Edit: Sorry I was wrong - Apparently your reforging is right Erwin ;)

I meant the recruitment post on these forums, the same link as you gave, just to not answer 'Yes'.

Little quote from elitistjerks regarding haste;
Quote
There is a known bug affecting the behavior HTT and HST regarding haste. It appears that HTT and HST will gain random ticks at random haste breakpoints and generally will not follow normal haste breakpoint calculations.For all intent and purposes the Haste section and its theorycrafting will reflect the intended behavior of both of these abilities.
(HTT = Healing tide totem HST = Healing Stream Totem )
So, the 1st haste cap is 871 and 2nd is 5676 (riptide). If there wasn't this bug the haste value would be 3764 for both totems.
The choice for crit is that it gives more throughput than mastery on players above 44,0%+ health ( not to even mention manaregen ).

Hope this has been any useful information!

Edit: I've been lurking around the realm forums for days looking for a guild with 1-2hc msv 2-3 HoF with 3-4 days a week and a good playerbase. Most recruitment posts exist of guilds where the guildleaders have never killed any hc bosses before. Eventually I landed on Grim batols realm forums.

Alright then :)

I've discussed your applications with our Resto Shamans and they don't really have much to add :)
And after discussing with the Raid Leaders there is only one team that could really use a Resto Shaman, which is Team Twelve, so we would be happy to offer you a trial there.

Once you've transferred, feel free to poke any Officer online for an explanation of your trial and guild invite.
