Zathetaur - Raiders application for either red/blue team
« on: 20 May, 2012, 02:02:26 am »
ABOUT YOU:

Applications type (Social/PvP/Raider): Raider.
Name: Terry
Age: 21
Country: England
What other games apart from WoW do you play?: Diablo 3, minecraft and various offline pc games such as Elder Scrolls Skyrim and Fifa
A bit about yourself: I used to study Business at my local college in which I won student of the year award. But at the moment I'm currently unemployed looking for work of course.
I love watching and playing football so I'm rather competitive and I love a challenge.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:

Armory Link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/saurfang/Zathetaur/simple

Character name: Zathetaur
Class: Paladin
Level: 85
Current server: Saurfang EU
Spec(s): Retribution pve & pvp
Professions: Blacksmithin& Engineering
How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?: Pretty play as much as possible I'm rarely away from the computer :O
What high level alts do you have?: Most of alts are on Saurfang. I have 85 hunter, DK and rogue.

ABOUT YOU AS PLAYER:

Do you have Teamspeak? (Voice communication is essential to our raiding and it's highly recommended you get a mic if you don't have one already): Yes

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use:
- DBM
- Omen

We expect all members to attend any raids with food and flasks to last the whole raid night and being repaired and ready to pull at 20.00

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30. On which days will you be available for the whole duration? (A raidgroup usually only raids up to 3 nights a week)
Wednesday: yes
Thursday: yes
Friday: yes
Saturday: yes
Sunday:  yes
Monday:  yes
Tuesday:  yes

Have you been in another guild? (Yes/No): yes

Which one(s)? And why did you leave?: Most of my previous raiding guilds fell apart due to drama and I'm leaving Catalyst because the leader quit and I've followed him to Grim Batol because we've been great friends so I don't want us to be apart since we get on so well :)

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap:
BWD - 5/6hc
BoT - 1/4hc
Tot4w - 2/2 normal
FL - 6/7 heroic
DS - 7/8 heroic

Please link, if possible, any recent relevant logs (www.worldoflogs.com), so we can get an idea from your current performance in raids:
http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-9wykc0kj88uw00sy/sum/damageDone/?s=4656&e=4879

IMPORTANT:

Now when you are done with the "basics", we want you to explain a little about different aspects of your character.

Character:

Why did you chose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?: I've been playing Retribution for a long time now and I've always felt comfortable playing it. I sometimes have issues with other classes because I'm so used to playing ret. I choose the professions because there both helpful to others and myself since both professions provide decent bonuses to my class. I always look up the latest information for the class so I can get a better understanding for any new changes should they arrive for example MoP changes.

Talent specialisation:

Would you be willing to change your build for the guild?: yes :)
Do you have two viable PvE speccs?: Currently using a ret pvp spec but I can change if need be.

Gear:

Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete in the Dragon Soul encounters?:Yes

Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?: 1 raid finder gear to replace and certain pieces to help on certain fights like Bone Link for Madness heroic

What stat-priority do you currently use (both secondary and primary stats, especially for tanks and healers), when gemming, enchanting and reforging your gear?:
Stat priority - Strength > Hit > Exp > Mastery > Crit > Haste

Guild:

Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?: Not at the moment

Why do you want to join MoX?: Looking for a fresh challenge in a new guild and a new realm

What type of guild are you looking for?: A guild that's making heroic raids with friendly members :)

What are your goals in wow, what do you want to achieve and how long do you plan to keep playing?

Additional Information: I plan to keep playing for as long as possible and I'm really looking forward to Mists of Pandaria which I also plan to do some good raiding. I want to achieve as much as possible in PvE so I can relish the success which most top guilds have.

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter (Yes/No): Yes

Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know?

Hey there and thanks for your application :) I must say overall the application looks okay, I'll have one of our paladins take a look at your character, to give feedback where needed, we'll get back to you as soon as we can ;)

Hey Terry,

Thanks for applying to MoX.
Like Szemere said your application looks good, same progress as MoX throughout Cata, gear up to par etc. That's what we love to see :)

I've taken a look at your armory, where everything looks perfect. That is, with exception for the lack of epic gems in BiS gear; please get that sorted.
I would also like to know a couple of things I cannot tell by just looking at your armory;
 - Are you using any tricks to min/max your DPS, for example prepot or switch out gearsets right before the pull? If so, please tell which tricks.
 - Do you switch out any trinkets/glyphs for different fights? If so, give an example or two.

That's all for now, looking forward to your reply!

Yes thanks for the feedback the reason for the lack of epic gems were due to silly prices on my old realm. I think they were like 4k-5k each :(

Yes I prepot and try to execute early bursts to perfection on every fight.

Yes I switch Creche of the final dragon with Aparatus on fights such as Hagara, Yor'sahj, Madness. Also have Rotting Skull for Spine heroic. Sadly due to rotten luck I've not seen Bone Link Fetish drop once :(

Yes I switch Consecration glyph to Holy Wrath for Spine heroic and sometimes if need be I will trade Consecration for Divine Protection for Twilight Barrage soaking but I haven't to do it recently since we get passed phase 1 so fast or we have better soakers.

Hey Zath,

I'm happy with your answers so far.
One other question, are you prepared to take on a Prot or Holy offspec?
I'm asking because we require everyone in our raid to know how to play their class in more than just one spec. And especially for a hybrid class such as yourself, an off spec can come in very handy when there's someone that is unable to raid an evening.

I've never played Holy before since I find healing totally out of my comfort zone but I have had tank specs in the past. I do have offspec tank gear sitting in my bank though I've rarely had to use it. Sadly my tanking experience only go up to firelands. I've yet to tank Dragon Soul but I can learn very fast if needed.

Hey Zath,

Like you and Sagiv I also play a ret paladin. Spec and glyphs looks fine I use the same and Sagiv have already mentioned the gems.

I hope I get a chance to see you online to see if you our rotations differ ;)

/Náril
How the hell do you beat a BM or a Frost Mage on Steroids as Ret? I just don't get it...

Awesome!

Then by the power vested in me by the MoX community, I would like to offer you a trial on our Blue raiding team :)
Please let us know when your server transfer is complete, so I can explain your trial in-game and throw you an invite.

Considering you have missed every single raid apart from the very first DS and FL raids, without any announcement beforehand, nor any attempt to explain this afterwards, nor having requested to have your trial turned into a social one, I see very little reason to not fail your trial. Tho being as patient as I am, I'll leave this thread open for a day or so before officially failing your trial, feel free to contact any officer or Leader ingame to get into contact with me or Sagiv, if you feel you have good enough reasons for us to not end your trial.

If I don't hear anything about this, I'll end your trial later this weekend.

First off I apologise if my disappearance has caused any issues.

Reasons for not replying - I was so burnt out of the game I simply just decided not to respond and move on. When I came back I was aware that I was kicked and I was invited to join a friends guild on the realm Draenor. I figured you'd never want to speak or hear from me again at this point.

Reasons for inactivity - I spent the majority of the time playing Diablo 3, I think I spent about 2/3 weeks of Diablo 3 without ever playing WoW. I did lose the spark and passion to play WoW for a while. I understand it was silly of me not to respond to Szemere's enquires.

However with the recent beta coverage, I've been heavily following all the MoP changes and I cannot wait to start raiding, pvping and doing other stuff with my friends and hopefully with this guild or another. I even returned to the Grim Batol realm so that I could enjoy these new additions to game with my battle net friends who are based here such as Chubbins.

At the moment I'm more active then ever doing mostly pvp content and I did enjoy raiding with you guys whilst I was on trial here before. Killing Ragnaros hc was a good experience. I hope I can raid with you guys again in the future.

If there is anything else you would like to know I will gladly explain  :)

Hopefully we can forget about the past and how stupid you were to not respond :P.

In all seriousness, he will be a great asset for the MoP progress, he knows most the bosses already, his class for MoP and how to raid.

If we want to stop the fails on stuff like Rag hc, we need people that don't fail. He rarely does.

Seeing how you've basically straight up failed this first trial, you'll have to go to a new trial period if you still intend to join MoX. Whether you want to re-apply as social until MoP starts or immediately as raider, is up to you of course. But know this, we do expect a lot from our Raiders, and that first trial period was definitely not a good first impression at all, so whenever you want to make the step to Raider, be it now or in MoP, you better make sure you impress us.

Seeing how this thread belongs to your initial application, which has ended, I'll close this one. Feel free to open up a new one if you want to re-apply. (Not saying you have to rewrite the entire application of course, the parts that are still correct can obviously be copied)
