WoW Application-Cathrin.
« on: 27 May, 2011, 01:41:19 pm »
Applications type (social/raider):Raider
Name:Cecilie Kristoffersen
Age:21
Country:Norway
What other games apart from WoW do you play?: Occiasionally playing N64 games with my sisters when home.
A bit about yourself: I was studying Teacher Education at Bodø university. I enjoyed my study but I don't feel I am ready for all the challenges a teacher student should be prepared for, so have applied to college for less stress and hopefully something that I can use for future. At my sparetime I hang out with friends.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/trollbane/cathrin/advanced
Character name: Cathrin
Class: Priest
Spec(s):Shadow(PvE)
Level: 85
Professions: Enchanting and Tailoring.
How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?:I don't keep track of time when in WoW. Ca.70 hours per week.
What high level alts do you have?: Paladin 85

Do you have Teamspeak? (Voice communication is essential to our raiding, although it is not required to have a mic):
Yes, been using Teamspeak for 2 years.

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use:
Omen
DBM
CoolLine

We expect all members to attend any raids with food and flasks to last the whole raid night. Severed Sagehead Head and Flask of Draconic Mind, Check!

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30; are you able to be available for the whole duration?
Thursday:No, 22.50-0:00
Sunday:No, 22.50-0:00
Monday:Yes

Have you been in another guild? Yes, all 3 on trollbane.
Which ones?
*Master Brewers-Trollbane. I left after they started behaving bad against a friend in guild who had practically boosted the guild through several encounters in 25man raids. And 10mans. To begin with it was a nice guild with nice atmosphere, and decent social raiding. I only attended it on my paladin, never sat my foot in the raiding enviroment as priest when there. When Ulduar came out the guild got split with a officer group only and those who did semi-guild runs. Nobody got in if they wasnt related to the officers and then promoted from member to veteran and up. When ulduar hc was down they went on to Trial of Crusader. My friend was alrdy been put under lots of pressure from the other paladin officer, who didn't like him taking his spotlight and basicly forced him out. He left and their progress fell down pretty fast. As far as I know they are stuck on 5/12 atm in cataclysm.

*Framed-Trollbane. To begin with it was a very nice atmosphered guild with players who behaved nice, and people were taken to raids no matter rank. But after some time the number of officers increased from 3 to 10 and they decided they wanted faster progress. So they decided to speed things up they would take only officers to raids. Promised the members of guild that they would be doing the same encounters as the officers had learnt the fight. The people ranked veteran by now got demoted to social. 3 weeks after I felt very fed up with seeing the officers doing progress alone. The run they promised never came. I sat my foot down and appearntly nobody else did. They had just settled with the thought of pugging. Frustrating. But after some time there were arranged 25man runs into ICC and my priest joined in there. However, August 2010 the guild's officers were having a massive discussion and the guild leader were gone for studys at his university. I went inactive due studys and came back a few months later to find out the guild was gone. Guild leader and 5 of the officers had faction changed to horde, according to the remaining people I knew from that guild.

*Discipline-Trollbane. I have been trying to organise a raid to BwD(saturdays) and BoT(mondays) but interest is low.

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap:

Wrath of Lich King:
Icecrown Citadel: 7/12

Cataclysm:
Blackwing Descent: 2/6.
Bastion of Twilight:1/4.
BH:1/1

IMPORTANT:

Now when you are done with the "basics", we want you to explain a little about different aspects of your character.

Character:
Why did you chose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?: I picked Enchanting for +80 int and Tailoring is for the nice proccing back enchant and upgrades like legs+ belt.

I started playing as Affliction Warlock, but I caught myself trapped in my own trap. I got fed up by dots and Shadow bolts before hitting 40. Tho I liked the playing style, it was lots of things I felt drew my attention at same time. I started considering a new class, but it took some time before I found out I wanted to be priest. I am still very fond of the DPS way. The playing style sometimes makes me have a little laugh comparing it to a warlock without minon and a lesser selfheal instead of Life Tap. My best moment on Spriest is when I did ICC 25 for first time in 245 gear where i managed to outdps a Spriest with better gear(3 items in 277+ rest in 251).

Talent specialisation: 10/0/31
Would you be willing to change your build for the guild?: In my shadowtree yes, if you can convince me that there is any better setup than my current specc. Else than that I keep my shadow specc as it is for now :)

Gear:
Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete with Bastion of Twilight, Black Wind Descent and Baradin Hold encounters?:Yes.

Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?
Missing staff from Zul gurub, 353, from pre-raid content. Rest is all 353 items avilable from ZG and ZA, and bought gloves+legs from VP, for 2 set bonus.

Guild:
Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?Yes. Kazmer, Chromatíc and Sagiv

Why you want to join MoX? What type of guild are you looking for? I have some bad experiences with social guilds, feeling left behind on progress and so on. And for those reasons I rather prefer being in guild with people I know and have a good time with while in game, and just sign for social runs and do heroics when avilable :)

What are your goals in wow, what do you want to achieve and how long do you plan to keep playing? I would love seeing as much of the current encounters as possible before they get nerfed to the ground, and always try proving myself worthy as player and for the class I play.  Planning on playing WoW to the very end.

Additional Information:

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter: Yes

Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know? On the boss encounters I know tacs for every boss 12/12 and halfus HC. Know its not relevant for a social applyer but thought it would be nice to let you know.

About my reforging:
I follow the following system:
Hit cap
Haste
Crit
Mastery.

I reforge my crit/mastery items to hit or haste dependant on current stats. I downgraded my mastery for now as it is slightly worse than Crit and doesn't scale as good as I hoped for to begin with. Elitistjerks says that you pick highest but due the low buff mastery gives atm I rather have Mastery reforged than crit. EP values also tells crit to be higher than mastery and I am sure that some agree with it.

Hmm, SP, I like.

Nicely written app, would be interested in seeing what you've got. I noticed you were trying to raid in your last guild but due to low interest you didn't. I assume that the implication that if we needed you or you managed to increase your raid exp you may like to increase your status to raider in the future?

I'll have a chat with you over the next day or so and we shall see where we are at :)

Really nice application there Cathrin, I like :)

We are all in for social people but if you play like Sagiv, Kazmer and Chromatic (enjoy my momentarily weak will which affords such compliments ^^) I can't help to think it would be a waste for you to be social but that's of course up to you..

Poke the above troll (Xan that is) for invite :)

This must be the best application I've read in a while, also the most enjoyable to read. Well done ^^

So, welcome to MoX =]

Asked her to amend to Raider seeing as she has 12/12 NM and 1/13 HC on another char (which is on another server) and as they are similar, I'm happy to accept the exp she currently has as enough for this apply.

Trial will start when char has been transferred.

Hmm weird stuff.. both me and Xan experienced that the name of the char you were whispering from was named "Ayanna" and when we tried to reply we both got the message that the character didn't exist :(

But a simple bug won't keep us back! I'm going to bed now but poke any officer/veteran ingame for an invite.. otherwise I'll try and catch you tomorrow ^^

Just invited her after she relogged a couple of times, because the game said she was already in a guild.. strange stuff going on with the server transfer/faction change I guess, since I didn't have any problems a few months back.

Anyways, I assume this means your trial has started 30/05/2011.

Re: WoW Application-Spriest/shaman (Cathrin)
« Reply #12 on: 06 June, 2011, 11:39:48 pm »
Hello, I'm Jisha-Trollbane. An lvl 85 Enhancement Shaman with Elemental as my 2nd job.

I'm sufficiently geared enough as Enhancement to compete with the various encounteers in BwD, BoT and The 4 winds. Thereby I am applying as Raider. Tho I am still wearing ilvl 346 pants, but from my PoV the t11 legs are not that great. The expertice is nice, but haste is rather uhm, bad, since 30% haste buff to us was reverted with Patch 4.0 the haste lost a lot of its luster and other classes got exciting interaction with it such as increased focus/energy regen. We don't have anything like that. And the legs of Magmaw got more interesting stats such as Hit/mastery as we need 17% hit I rather  go for items with mastery/hit as Mastery is buffing our spells, such as for instant, Flame Shock. And its harder to get hit cap than expertice cap.

My hobbys are Engineering and Blacksmithing(525). I picked them before the other various ones, due several reasons. In Wrath of the Lich King Nitro boots was very handy due the extra speed boost it gave. Nowadays this just blows me up in the air on the encounters. Making both me and the raid I am in, frustrated, so out with nitro boots and hello Ghost Wolf speed. I still enjoy Engineering for its helm and other tinker options, such as Fall speed reduction and extra agility/int boost on gloves and Jeeves.

My 2nd hobby is Blacksmithing, for 80 more stats. Again, handy for both Enhancement and Elemental so its a win-win. Also makes me able to make items for my alts :)

Raiding.
When not working on proffesions stuff, I love raiding. I got DBM and Omen as my mandatory raiding addons and for messy fights such as Maloriak HC I have GTFO on. It beeps like a horrible fire alarm that goes non-stop. Only stops when the danger is gone(which requires movement). For a clean and easy way to track my Cds I use CoolLine, it tells when my Ghost Wolfs, Fire Nova, Lava Lash, Storm Strike and Unleash Weapons is ready to use again.

I bring about 40x Skewered Eel and 5x Flask of the Winds to stay buffed, and avilable to raid for the whole duration on Thursday, Sunday and Monday from 19-30 to 0:00.

Current raid experience I got is:
Vault of Archevon: 4/4
The Obsidium Sanctum: 1/1 + 3Drakes.
Onyxia's Lair:1/1
Trial of Crusader: 5/5 + A tribute to Mad Skill(45 attempts left on HC mode).
Icecrown Citadel: 11/12.

Cataclysm:
Bastion of Twilight: 4/4 +Halfus HC.
Blackwing Descent: 6/6
Throne of four winds: 2/2.
Baradin Hold: 1/1.

Why shaman?
I was born horde shaman, to fill a DPS role...
On a more serious note: As girl I never quiet get the thought of my friends saying: Healing is for girls. I wanted to prove them wrong. (This happened after I had left Master Brewers on paladin). And there my long journey on the way to end-gaming started.

With 2 good options for DPS, ranged or melee. Felt I could fit them both pretty good. I tho left horde side later when my brother rerolled Alliance. Had a break from shammy role and was being Paladin for a while as social in Framed and came back to Shammy when the guild started recruiting Elemental shamans to fill the raid roster.

I started leveling faster, having it as motivation that if I leveled fast enough and geared just as fast I would be able to grab a spot in the raid team. When I got there Icecrown citadel dungeons had come out. But in Icecrown citadel I ran as Elemental and slowly got OS gear, which was Enhancement.

Then at some point I had way better gear as Enhancement than Elemental and got asked by guild to go Enhancement cause they wanted to test my other specc. I passed my Elemental DPS by 4-5K and since that Enhancement has been the main thing for me. I however continue to read up and use raiding dummys active to become better with Elemental.

Cathrin was born later, can't recall when tho.

Talent specialization:10/31/0
I chose Elemental Prescion above Reverbation for 2 reasons. Halfus HC and Maloriak and the fancy Arcanatron's beam is easily interruptable with a 6 sec interrupt. Mastery for us is increased nature, fire and frost dmg making the Elemental Prescion work as extra mastery. We do, idd, not benefit from spirit->Hit but mastery is our second best stat after Agility, which is our primary stat.

You are welcome to convince me about that there is better options, but after seasoned winds replaced Fire Nova in enhancement tree and we idd, get some spare time when all spells are used I say my specc is good for now :)

Sincerly,

Jisha.
