Twisting Nether Horde, Grimfug Frost Dk
« on: 03 April, 2013, 09:12:23 pm »
ABOUT YOU:

Applications type (Social/PvP/Raider): Raider.

Name: Mohammed

Age: 23
Country: Sweden

What other games apart from WoW do you play?: LoL, HoN, Dota 2, CS 1.6, RISK, AoE. :P

A bit about yourself:
I live in Jönköping, Sweden where I'm currently studying at the university. Studying to become a infrastructual engineer. Currently on my last semester but thinking bout continuing afterwards and get a masters. In my freetime I'm involved in many projects around this town. I have just ended my time as the chairman of a comittee in the schoolboard and most of my job was to arrange activities and trips to other countries for all students. I watch alot of tvshows and play alot of games also.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:

Armory Link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/twisting-nether/Grimfug/simple

Character name: Grimfug

Class: DK

Level: 90

Current server: Twisting Nether

Spec(s): Frost MS ilvl 513, Blood OS ilvl 495ish

Professions: BS and JC full skill on both.

How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?: Well basically always online, questing or doing achieves, theroycrafting myself or just split screen and have Wow on and play lol or something.

What high level alts do you have?: Got a lock lvl 88 on The maelstrom Alliance, Priest 85 on the Maelstrom Horde.

ABOUT YOU AS PLAYER:

Do you have Teamspeak? (Voice communication is essential to our raiding and it's highly recommended you get a mic if you don't have one already):
I have got a microphone and Im not afraid of speaking etc. Not to familiar with Teamspeak, mostly used vent/mumble/skype but I guess it is the same thing. Click button and speak. xD Will download TS asap.

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use:
I am not a big fan of addons overall cuz I got this mad idea that if I want to be pro I need to be able to kill contents without any addon helping me. But as mentioned, crazy idea. I use Omen, DBM, ReforgeLite and recount. Dont feel like I need any more to maximize me as a raider cuz blizzard log/recount gives me all the info I need to get my shit straight.

We expect all members to attend any raids with food and flasks to last the whole raid night and being repaired and ready to pull bosses at 20.00.
Will always come prepared with flasks and pots, sometimes I just havent realized that I'm out of pots or something necessary but 99% of the cases it is still a couple of minutes left till raid and usually make it. ;)

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30. On which days will you be available for the whole duration? (A raidgroup usually only raids up to 3 nights a week)
Wednesday: Good
Thursday: Good
Friday: Good
Saturday: Good
Sunday: Good
Monday: Good
Tuesday: Good

Although since I am doing my final thesis now and stuff like that, I might not be able to attend a non-decided day but I will make sure to post a note on the forum if that happens. Rarely these situations happens but most of the times I make it atleast. Trying to plan my days every morning as I wake up to complete all things I got to do etc.

Have you been in another guild? (Yes/No):
Yes

If so: Which one(s)? And why did you leave?:
"Vi måste stoppa Jafar" on the maelstrom. Joined this guild and had a really good time. Was about 8 people who knew eachother irl who started that guild and I got accepted. Raided with em through MSV, HoF and ToeS. Was alot of fun and when my trial was over we discussed it and they said that they would love to give me raider status, but they were irl buddies and we were about 15 really good players in the guild. They told me that the best coreprogress grp I wasnt included unless someone was not able to raid etc. So basically until they had 13/13 hc I would not get a spot and therefore we decided that I would leave and find a new guild. :P

But anyways, I migrated to TN and joined irl buddies in a guild. Went to hell with that. Joined Execution which is a 25man guild on TN. Got 8/12 normal ToT and have progressed hc on jinrokh. The problem with this guild was my computer. My graphic card burned up and I had to use another computer which basically does not cooperate with 25man. Spoke with Ralantos, dk officer and he said I have been doing fine etc but I told him that I am not able to perform my best and show them that I'm good which will in the end get me benched etc. It just bugs me that my crappy computer basically makes me not perform well and therefore I have decided to leave this guild.

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap:
MSV 5/6 Hc, HoF 3/6 hc (standby on Garalon) and ToeS elite mode on first. ToT 8/12 normal, although had about 19% on Jin'rokh hc.

Please link, if possible, any recent relevant logs (www.worldoflogs.com), so we can get an idea from your current performance in raids: I dont use logs myself but the guilds I have been in does. Although it does not feel relevant to link logs from 25man since my performance is useless due to lagg, delays and frozen screen. 10man is no problem for me to raid.

IMPORTANT:

Now when you are done with the "basics", we want you to explain a little about different aspects of your character.

Character: Many people think that playing a DK is faceroll bla bla bla. I have played DK since it first came up until today and what I have experienced is that it actually is hard to play this character. In Wotlk you had too keep an eye out for rune timers, proccs, cds, runic power and God knows what. To maximize your output you needed fast calculation, Fast decisions combined with a greater challenge to maintain a high dps. There are different thinkings when playing unholy than frost but in frost there is still fast decisions, patience and calculations and this is basically what I find intressting fun. I do not use any addons or stuff like that to keep track of timers, cuz here I apply my crazy idea. I count seconds when I'm raiding and plan like 5 steps ahead. simultaneously I keep my eyes open for the actual boss etc. I have done this since the beginning so im used to it. I cant state it more but the CHALLENGE with the rune system is amazing. What to do if you get a blood rune instead of Death rune etc. This changes my s.c "rotation" and combined with the proccs I got up etc it is just amazing. I love it!

Why did you choose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?:
Basically answered class question on the previous but why I chose the professions is cuz of the extra gems and socketslots. Since im playing plate BS is a good benefit to gear up fast in new releases etc with crafting my own gear etc. Good boost in early exp.

Talent specialisation:

Would you be willing to change your specialization for the guild?:
I would prolly do whatever needed but I have played frost the most. I do not suck at tanking but im not equally good and regarding unholy, when I got time over and instead of jumping for 2h in capital, I respecc and try to figure out more bout unholy. So no probs.

Do you have two or more specs you know well enough to use in a Raiding environment?:
Frost/blood

Please list any talents and glyphs you switch out for certain fights:
Well if it is a fight with adds that need to be CC I use glyph of DnD, chillblains talent instead of deaths advance. AMZ if it is a high magic raid aoedmg. If it is a fight as Blade lord in HoF I use Lichborne for selfheal during the phase 2. Sometimes Gorefiends grasp is better than Remorseless winter etc. It all depends on the encounter. For instance most of the time I use Unholy blight and rotate my diseases with outbreak. Can basically have 100% uptime on my dots if I rotate with outbreak but if I notice that I'm getting a huge amount of GCD I use Plague Leech to be able to get a rune back and hopefully keep my downtime lower etc.

Gear:

Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete in the encounters of the current Heroic tier? (and if not, what is your character sufficiently geared for?):
Dont think that I am undergeared for hc content, although I am not happy with my current gear, To much hit and cant get it away, Would have loved more haste and str but that is hard, still need to theorycraft my shit atm. Havent calculated stats etc for my current gear cuz I recently got it but Im going to do it asap.

Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?:
It depends, I mean my T14 2setbonus is good and I would not break it if I got a ilvl 522 head so it depends. I want to get rid of some hit rating and increase my haste. Like it to be around 9-10k.

What stat-priority do you currently use (both secondary and primary stats, especially for tanks and healers), when gemming, enchanting and reforging your gear? (for both your main and off-spec):

Frost - Hit/exp 7.5% --> Str --> Haste --> Crit --> Mastery
Blood - Hit/exp 7.5% minimum --> Mastery --> Stam --> Parry/dodge
Blood alternate --> Hit/exp 7.5% minimum --> Stam --> Parry/dodge --> mastery

I havent really worked that much with my bloodspecc.

Guild:

Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?:
Nope I dont.

Why do you want to join MoX?:
Well I'm looking for a 10man guild were we almost got same progress and I found you guys. Heard you were looking for a dk dps and here I am. What I want is a guild that knows how to work together, have fun while raiding and achieve new goals. Here comes another crazy idea but I want to be the best death knight in the world and I am trying to get there. I like to read up on my class on different forums and I also talk alot with highranked dks for tip and advice. Ask them about their opinion bout stuffs. I haven't got any plans to quit playing at all unless I get married and get children. Can you imagine an arab wife letting her husband play a game???

Additional Information:

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter (Yes/No):
Yes.

Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know?
You should really watch this video. It is amazing.

Thank you for your time!

Hey Grimfug,

Sorry to say this but that vid really screwed up some good songs :<

About your app:
 - An idea to make use of the extra hit is to use dualwield instead of 2h. That way hit over the yellow cap isn't completely useless. Otherwise you'll indeed just have to replace items with hit on them.
 - Also I'm wondering why you're gemming haste in one socket and Strength in another, you're ignoring +120 str socket bonuses but are going for a +60 hit socket bonus on boots. The +180 str socketbonus in your head is definitely a must have. I understand you're trying to avoid the hit gem, but 80str/160 hit + 180 str vs. 160 str you have now. Three guesses which gem will give you more benefit.
 - Also I would strongly urge you to Sim your character after you've fixed your gemming and find out what your stat weights are on a realistic sim (not one of those patchwork sims) That way you can find out if it's better to gem str or haste. Because if Haste has more than half the stat value of str, you wanna gem as much haste as possible thanks to the double secondary stat gems.

Rest of the app looks good. About the same experience as most Raiders in MoX and not behind on gear (with exception of the wrong itemized gear).

So please get back to us.

Haha that video is awesome. Lmao all day. :)

Thanx for the feedback mate.

I would have tried dual-wielding although I only got one 1h-wep. Tryin to get one more but bad luck on coin rollz and no drops.

The gemming is made in complete stress, due to the fact that I got 5 pieces approx in one run. Some quick headcounting and time pressure was the result of my current gemming. :P But as I mentioned in my app, I havent really had time to theorycraft for reals. Will fix it asap tho. :)

Never really Simmed my character, mostly read up and talk to people about it and stuff like that. But my friend just told me he could sim it for me so we will see what happens. :)

Thanks again for the feedback and advice.

I went for the socket bonuses and tried to balance it with the haste/str gems. I do like to keep my haste high to get more KM procs and therefore I havent gone for pure str. All yellow are supposed to be pure haste and red slots str/haste. I noticed right now that I missed the yellow slot in the chest but lets be honest. It is 02.21 in the night and I need to wake up at 05.30... Tomorrow (read: Later today) I will try and learn the sim language and yeah, fix it basically. :)

Sorry if this gives an impression that I'm in a lack of interest mode thingy. This is not the case. Im just sleepy thats all.

Tomorrow, everything will be awesome sauce. Take care for now

Gemming looks much better!
Glad to see you picked up the important socketbonuses.

Not to be a bitch about it, but I'm pretty sure that Bold's Serpent's is better than Quick Serpent's eye, so you still want to replace the haste JC gem with the Str JC gem. The only reason normal gems with Haste are better is because of 100% extra stats. Your Haste JC gem only gives 50% extra stats compared to the Str JC gem.

About Simcraft, I found some statvalues on EJ: http://elitistjerks.com/f72/t132171-frost_dps_5_2_winter_here/#Stats_and_Gearing
But like they say there, they used BiS gear, which we are still far from, hence why you wanna import your character and run your own sim.

Other then that everything looks fine, so I'm accepting you on trial.

/Application accepted.

Poke Sarenas, Szemere, Segev or Akuru in-game for an explanation of trial and a ginvite.

Actually one more thing, once you've found out your personal statweights, try out: http://wowreforge.com/EU/Twisting%20Nether/Grimfug
Edit in your personal stat weights and see what the best way of reforging is, I like to use both wowreforge and AskMrRobot, to see which one gives me the best set of stats.

*** important to note, you'll have to manually update the secondary stats on upgraded items as that site is somewhat behind in that regard.

Trial ended due to the raid team having disbanded due to lack of members.
