Twisting Nether - Notadk Unholy DK
« on: 04 April, 2013, 05:01:15 pm »
ABOUT ME:

Applications type: Raider.
Name: Peter Fuchs

Age: 25
Country: Czech Republic

What other games apart from WoW do you play?: League of legends (very casually though), SWTOR and single player games worth playing (bioshock infinite, dead space 3 to mention some)

A bit about myself: I used to study economics, then a different economics school, then I tried some law but none of those interested me really so now I work in a warehouse and I'm happy as ever ;> Apart from that I spend quite a lot of time on PC (playing games, watching streams / movies, reading news etc). For some reason I also enjoy usage of broken English but that hopefully won't be a problem.

ABOUT MY CHARACTER:

Armory Link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/twisting-nether/Notadk/advanced

Character name: Notadk
Class: DK
Level: 90
Current server: Twisting Nether (EU-PVP)
Spec(s): Unholy / Blood
Professions: Leatherworking / Engineering

How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?: About 4 hours / day (not including raiding time). This of course depends whether there is something worthwile to do (capping valor, farming a mount) or not. I play randomly throughout the day when I feel like it :> (if i'm not working that is)

What high level alts do you have?: Lv 90 warlock (480 ish ilvl) who is used for alchemy and herbalism to supply my (and guildies) with flasks. Couple of ~80 but those are insignificant.

ABOUT YOU AS PLAYER:

Do you have Teamspeak? (Voice communication is essential to our raiding and it's highly recommended you get a mic if you don't have one already). I have teamspeak, ventrilo, mumble, raidcall and skype so no issue here ;>

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use:
DKDots, Doc's Debug Runes (both DK specific), Deadly Boss Mod, OmniCC, Xperl Unit frames, Tidy Plates, Prat.

We expect all members to attend any raids with food and flasks to last the whole raid night and being repaired and ready to pull bosses at 20.00

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30. On which days will you be available for the whole duration? (A raidgroup usually only raids up to 3 nights a week)

Every day with the possible exception of fridays (dat social life  )

Have you been in another guild? (Yes/No): Yes

If so: Which one(s)? And why did you leave?:  Desolution here on Twisting Nether. The reason for my departure was me not getting to raid often enough. The guild runs on 3-day/week raiding schedule, however due to abundance of DPS players I (and others of course) would regularly sit out one raiding night making this an actual 2-day/week schedule which is simply not enough for me. Apart from that the guild has great leadership and very friendly players.

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap:

6/6 MSV HC, 4/6 HoF HC, Lei Shi HC (the rest of the bosses on normal),  1/12 ToT HC.

Please link, if possible, any recent relevant logs (www.worldoflogs.com), so we can get an idea from your current performance in raids:
http://www.worldoflogs.com/guilds/207244/calendar/04-13/    -  Desolution's guild logs, not sure which logs to post so I leave it up to you to decide which one you'll check.

Please note that I'm running festerblight subspec (or rather I'm geared / reforged slightly towards festerblight) which due to it's nature tends to perform worse on encounters with damage increase selfbuff (ji-kun, jin rokh etc), however performs really well in aoe-multidot, or single target for the entire fight scenario so please do treat the numbers accordingly.  Also I'm willing to go frost in 10 mans should the fight / strategy used by the guild require it, or should it just straight outperform unholy for some reason.

I'll be using the term festerblight multiple times in this application so I guess it would be a good idea to briefly explain what festerblight means. Basically it is a playstyle where I wait for all my str procs to happen (both trinkets, rune of the fallen crusader, str pot, eng. gloves, orc racial) then apply diseases and then attempt to keep those "super-powered" diseases rolling for the entire duration of the fight without over-writing them. This works exceptionally well on some boses, but other bosses simply do not support this playstyle due to the nature of the encounter.

IMPORTANT:

Now when you are done with the "basics", we want you to explain a little about different aspects of your character.

Character:

Why did you choose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?: I've picked DK because of the fast-paced gameplay it offers (1s GCD, two resource system) and also for the fact I love massive two-handed weapons and plate armor. Also the whole freed-from-lich king's-grasp thingy was attractive ;>.

As for the professions leatherworking is on par with other professions stats-wise, however it is the best profession for blood dk so I picked it with the thought of me possibly tanking in the future in mind. Engineering I've picked because the glove tinker stacks nicely with pillar of frost (frost dk), and with strength procs I need for super-powered dots for festerblight (unholy dk). Not to mention rocket boots for quick movement (or free death if the boots decide to explode mid-fight) and goblin glider.

Talent specialisation:

Would you be willing to change your specialization for the guild?: Absolutely.
Do you have two or more specs you know well enough to use in a Raiding environment?: I can play frost / unholy on equal level. I can also tank, however I do not have any tank gear as of now which makes tanking certain bosses a bit of a nasty business (especially for healers).

Please list any talents and glyphs you switch out for certain fights: Since glyphs for DPS DK's are mostly useless, there is not much glyph swapping needed really. As for talents the only swappable are tier 2 (death's advance when lots of movement is required, chillblains if adds need to be slowed, asphyxiate if there is a mechanic / add that needs to be interrupted or stunned) and tier 6 (AoE grip when adds need to be stacked / aoe'd, remorseless winter for the cc. Desecrated ground mostly useless for PvE)

Gear:

Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete in the encounters of the current Heroic tier? (and if not, what is your character sufficiently geared for?): I'm currently 516 ilvl, which is probably a bit lower than what the HC content is tuned for, however I have already obtained the most important gear pieces for my play style (trinkets - 528 and 522 and a mainhand weapon - 522) so I'm fairly sure I can pull necessary numbers for the kill.

Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?: Definitely the lack of tier-15 pieces, also too much expertise (9.20%) at the moment, however this will be fixed after reset next week (either by a drop, or I'll buy the valor gloves which do not have expertise on them).

What stat-priority do you currently use (both secondary and primary stats, especially for tanks and healers), when gemming, enchanting and reforging your gear? (for both your main and off-spec):  With my current gear level the stat priority for both frost and unholy is STR > haste > crit > mastery. For festerblight it is STR > crit = haste > mastery, however since some fights do not support festerblight and sometimes I either plain screw up and over-write them, or a trinket won't proc and I'll have to do classic unholy rotation, I have reforged and gemmed to a haste level I'm comfortable with (around 6500) while the rest went to crit. Should I switch to frost I'd reforge as much haste as possible.

Guild:

Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?: No
Why do you want to join MoX?: I've always wanted to raid 25 mans, however after some time raiding 25 mans I've come to the conclusion that while it is a bit harder compared to 10 man (or most of the fights are that is), personal skill, and perhaps effort too, is a bit less important in 25 man. This made me look for a 10 man and your guild seems to be very stable with decent progress to boot and your raiding times suit me perfectly.

What type of guild are you looking for?:
I'm looking for the type where raiders do try their best to down the boss and progress, however in an atmosphere where one mistake does not lead to a 10-minutes long essay from the raid leader about how bad / stupid player X is. Generally my goal is to raid in an environment where I do not have to play in constant fear of being raged at for misplays (this does not mean that I'm unable to accept criticism, it just needs to be a civilized discussion :>)

What are your goals in wow, what do you want to achieve and how long do you plan to keep playing?
My goal is to see (and beat) content in a timely manner while it is relevant, and also to have fun while doing it. Since I do not PvP and there is only so much one can do in PvE apart from raiding I can't really think of anything else.  As of now I have no thoughts of quitting WoW in near future.

Additional Information:

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter (Yes/No): Yes I have.

Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know? Not really, no.

Hey Notadk,

Thank you for an exceptional application.
We are unfortunately full on recruits for the time being.
Otherwise I definitely think you'd make a perfect fit, so please get back to us in two weeks time to see if anything has changed. That is if you haven't found another home by then of course.

Good evening.

Thank you for reviewing my application. After recent events in my current guild I have decided to stay where I am (for the time being at least). I wish you guys good progress and hopefully we'll cross paths sometime in the future ;)
