Title: Application for the Shadows LOTRO kinship
Post by: Aloisa on 29 April, 2012, 01:57:42 pm
 Hello everyone :)

I would like to be considered for membership of the LOTRO Shadows Kinship.

Your character name(s): Tiersatiffany, Aloisa, Phoenili

 Personal information:

37 years old in the UK (a little north of London). Aside from gaming I like to create music at the PC, cycle off road, keep tropical fish and look after my small but noisy and troublesome colony of pet quail.

State why you wish to join The Shadows/MoX:

I have known some members for a few years in game and have always enjoyed adventuring with them. Now in particular I think LOTRO is probably past half of it's life time, and it seems a good time to enjoy more of the social side of the game and get to know some old friends better before the time left runs out. :)

Tell us about your gaming history and in-game preferences (e.g. instances, raiding, roleplaying, etc.):

It's probably accurate to say that I love exploring more than anything else. The scenery and atmosphere in LOTRO were the major attraction from the start. I do like to raid, but it's only one or two nights a week that I can spend more than a few hours at the PC in one go. I am usually more easily  available for pre-arranged rather than spontaneous events, as it gives me a chance to make sure everything is done and out the way and I won't be interrupted for a few hours.

I am not much of a raid / instance leader really, and tried one or two six man instances in Moria some time ago, but unfortunately just don't have much of a talent for strategy. I am however quite good at doing as  instructed :), and if any grinding needs to be done then I tend to have a huge appetite for it (doesn't seem to apply that much in LOTRO really).

I seem to be known for having quite an awful direction sense, and can easily get lost trying to make my way back from the bar in the Prancing Pony.

LOTRO online is the only MMORPG I have played extensively. I tried Fallen Earth for a few months, which was enjoyable, but I really didn't have time for more than one and LOTRO won out. I have played a little Champions online, and once used to love playing Gemstone 3, which was rather like a text based predecessor to MMORPGs.

Away from the PC I have been interested in role playing games for many years such as AD&D, White Wolf games, MERP, Call of Cthulhu and SLA industries. As is so often the case, old friends have moved away and become busy with other things in life, so we only manage to get together to game once or twice a year now. For a few years I was quite involved with the UK RPG convention scene (RPGA, then Raven, then Horsemen events), but again other obligations have made that a thing of the past.

Finally (and most importantly) state that you have read and agree to abide by the MoX Charter:

I have read and agree to abide by the charter.

I hope to see you in game soon, and to get to know the members I have not yet met! :)

Dear Aloisa,

that is a very nice application, you have clearly put a lot of thought into it. You sound like a very nice person and I hope to meet you in game very soon!

Hey Aloisa,

As you know I no longer play lotro but I always thought we got on very well when I did. As such I'm very pleased to see you apply to join The Shadows and I'm sure it will be very mutually beneficial.

 Hello again people, :)

It has passed the two week point now, but if it's acceptable I would like to leave it until next Tuesday before I ask for sponsors. This will give me a chance to join in on Mondays Kinship run (possibly anything that may take place on Friday too) before asking.

I have really enjoyed being online with the Shadows, but have only managed to join groups a couple of times so far.

I hope this is ok and inline with the rules! :)

Not a problem Aloisa I was about to suggest in a PM that we agree to extend your trial to the 22nd for the reason you suggested

I tend to like to extend them in 2 week blocks to be honest

We also have a skirmish night tonight if your interested ;)

Provisional trial end 22nd May

I sponsor you anyway Aloisa

/sponsor

I do not join to much instances, nor do I do raid often. hence my sponsoring is based on totally others criterias.
You are friendly, social, helpful and you show repsonsibility for the things you join up on.

Besides you are supportive aswell. which is highly apreciated and I think is a big big big plus, ( the Kin contains some RP that tend to do their own things, but get extremly happy when ppl turn up on their events (eks:Shades events) )
I saw you last time we had a performance :)

 Thank you Thaum,

I have just been finding my feet both as a Minstrel, and playing in groups again. Having another chance or two to work with others will be helpful. :)

I would love to join a Skirmish or two tonight (I don't have them all, but did pick up the newest one, so hopefully will not restrict choice too much).

Thank you very much Achy! :)

The Shades are always something to not be missed if possible. Although I don't often formally roleplay in an arranged sense, RP is the biggest attraction to the game for me (I am kind of always in character (well almost ;) )... it's just the way I grew up gaming I guess). :)

I don't know if this counts as a sponsor as I haven't been much online but nevertheless
/sponsor

I vouch Aloisa as there's only good things to say about him over the past 4 years

edit: two unique positive comments: 1. skilled player 2. have not stolen loot from Surma in the past

Aloisa,

Congratulations on obtaining 3 sponsors, looks as though we didn't need the extension after all ...especially after Surmas ninja edit :)

Welcome to MoX and the Shadows Alo

I'll set the wheels in motion to open up the rest of the Forum for you

Thank you Thaumatur. I am very proud to be a member.

Thanks to everyone for sponsors and words of encouragement.

Now I had better get to work on some of those online Minstrel guides and fill a few gaps in my knowledge! ;)
