WoW Recruitment - Totemic's application
« on: 23 April, 2011, 04:34:06 pm »
ABOUT YOU
Applications type (social/raider): Raider
Name: Torkil
Age: 20
Country: Norway
What other games apart from WoW do you play?:
A bit about yourself: I'm Norwegian, but I currently reside in Denmark, where I study Medicine and work as a shop assistant. I love football, skiing and WoW :D

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
Character name: Totemic
Class: Shaman
Spec(s): Restoration and maybe elemental some time in the future
Level: 85
Professions: Mining/Engineering
How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?: I like to log in every day if possible, I guess you can say that I need my daily fix. On a weekly basis I probably play about 15-20 hours at the cost of sleep.
What high level alts do you have?: My girlfriend would probably be my most time consuming alt.

Do you have Teamspeak? (Voice communication is essential to our raiding, although it is not required to have a mic): Not exactly Teamspeak, but obviously I'll get it if you'd like me to join you.

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use: I've used Omen and DBM a lot until recently. I've dropped it since I believe Blizzard's work on the UI in Cataclysm has made third party applications superfluous.

We expect all members to attend any raids with food and flasks to last the whole raid night.

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30; are you able to be available for the whole duration?
Thursday: I don't have trouble raiding on any specific days, since my studies, which is what occupies most of my time, are very flexible, but I don't expect to have a 100% attendance.
Sunday:
Monday:

Have you been in another guild?
Which one(s)? And why did you leave? All the guilds, that I've been in, have been leveling guilds. I left to pursue raiding.

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap:
BH 1/1
BWD 3/6

IMPORTANT:

Now when you are done with the "basics", we want you to explain a little about different aspects of your character.

Character:
Why did you chose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?: To start off with the professions: I chose them for the money and the easy access to an epic headpiece that could be altered to suit my needs.
Actually I started leveling my shaman seriously just under a month ago. I did it because I saw many good restoration shamans with very different prioritizes when it came to secondary stats. It seemed to me like there was no "best" way to gear a restoration shaman as opposed to many other classes I tried.
Generally I love how shamans have buffs in the form of totems that can be picked to fit the group you're in and thereby always making the shaman an important part of any group.
Now in Cataclysm healers may seem very similar, and I agree that the healing specs are the most homogeneous of all. With that said I find that restoration shamans have slightly better versions of many of the normal healing abilities and talents. One last thing is that restoration shaman may be the spec with the most interesting talent tree as several different builds seem viable. This leads me to the next question I believe...

Talent specialisation:
Would you be willing to change your build for the guild?:
Yes.

Gear:
Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete Bastion of Twilight, Black Wind Descent and Baradin Hold encounters?:
When I healed Baradin Hold I found my healing output and regeneration sufficient to last for another five minutes of fighting. (Given that the big ugly boss didn't go berserk of course.)
Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?
Currently I'm farming reputation for some epic boots, so I guess that's where I feel weak at the moment. Also my relic is horrible, but luckily easy to replace as long as I do my daily HCs.

Guild:
Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?
Why you want to join MoX? What type of guild are you looking for?
I'm looking for a guild that raids, but not at the expense of a real life. I expect MoX members to agree with me as the recruiter in the trade channel (why did they even make a guild recruitment channel? Or a LFG channel? Or /s for that sake...) stressed being social, having a nice personality and being 18+.

What are your goals in wow, what do you want to achieve and how long do you plan to keep playing?
Honestly my biggest goal in WoW is to reach an arena rating similar to the one I had, when I was young, unemployed and sorrowless, but since I don't have the time for that, I suppose I'll just raid.
When will I stop playing WoW? Hopefully never, but some day we all gotta end up with a full time job, a huge beard and some pregnant wife mangling our already bleeding credit cards I suppose :)

Additional Information:

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter: Yes/No
Yes.
Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know?

  • If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.
