WoW application, raider - Wooboodooboo DK 2h frost dps
« on: 30 October, 2012, 05:52:05 pm »
ABOUT YOU:

Applications type (Social/PvP/Raider): Raider.
Name: Karol
Age: 25
Country: Poland
What other games apart from WoW do you play?: The witcher 1 & 2, XCOM: Enemy unknown, Civilization 5, Skyrim, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Quake Live
A bit about yourself: Im a big fan o gaming, reading books and manga, watching anime and generally movies. Im a student of IT in my city, have a GF who lets me play :)

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:

Armory Link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/grim-batol/Wooboodooboo/simple

Character name: Wooboodooboo
Class: DK
Level: 90
Current server: Grim Batol
Spec(s): Frost as dps, offspec blood tank
Professions: BS/Mining
How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?: mostly about 5 days a week, minimum of 2+ hours (at least dailies)
What high level alts do you have?:
Mains before:
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/ravenholdt/Wooboodooboo/simple - played while Wotlk (57 days of playtime)
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/ravenholdt/Athrill/simple - played while TBC (115 days of playtime)
Alt/farmer:
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/ravenholdt/Silentslicer/simple - played while Wotlk (23 days of playtime)

ABOUT YOU AS PLAYER:

Do you have Teamspeak? (Voice communication is essential to our raiding and it's highly recommended you get a mic if you don't have one already): Yes.

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use: DBM, Omen, Recount

We expect all members to attend any raids with food and flasks to last the whole raid night and being repaired and ready to pull bosses at 20.00

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30. On which days will you be available for the whole duration? (A raidgroup usually only raids up to 3 nights a week)
Wednesday:  yes
Thursday: yes
Friday: no
Saturday: no
Sunday: yes
Monday: yes
Tuesday: yes

Have you been in another guild? (Yes/No): Yes.

If so: Which one(s)? And why did you leave?: Twizted reality in MoP. Havent left yet. It had to be a new raiding guild, but they really lack in everything, for example raid leader and main tank without meta gems, lacking enchants and 7/10 lacking belt buckles.

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap:

MoP:
Do i have to list the LFR? Done it.
MGV: 2/6 - the guild is really doing bad.

Raided TBC with hunter Athrill on Ravenholdt as it was my first char. Progressed from scratch on SSC, Tempest Keep, Mt hyjal, Black Temple and on Sunwell joined to E pluribus unum. Guild "Refused" got disbanded.
In Wotlk rolled a DK Woobodooboo on Ravenholdt and joined EPU again. Raided whole stuff with it, hardmodes in Ulduar, later on ICC.
In pandaria Wooboo got Scroll of ressurection to Stormscale which most of the time is full on queues. So i dumped him, to roll another Wooboodooboo on Grim Batol as i didnt want to pay for character transfer. Its fresh expansion so no stress on gear.

Please link, if possible, any recent relevant logs (www.worldoflogs.com), so we can get an idea from your current performance in raids: None available.

IMPORTANT:

Now when you are done with the "basics", we want you to explain a little about different aspects of your character.

Character:

Why did you choose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?: I rerolled from hunter in TBC, to DK in Wotlk as i wanted a change and DKs were introduced in new expansion, so that was the best way to get full of Wotlk. I have Blacksmithing - for crafting epix for myself, additional sockets are so obvious so its not worth explaining. And mining - to support my BS, make money for Darkmoon trinket, not a real raid booster profession. I can reroll mining for something raid revelant if you wish.

Talent specialisation: Frost - best dps spec.

Would you be willing to change your specialization for the guild?: Yes, not a problem - best raid performance is the answer.
Do you have two or more specs you know well enough to use in a Raiding environment?: Well specs for DK changed across many patches, currently i deal damage in frost spec, as it is superior to unholy. I have some experience in tanking (wotlk hardmodes in ulduar). In MoP tanked few instances.
Please list any talents and glyphs you switch out for certain fights: Anti magic zone for reducing raid dmg (feng the accursed), chillblains for aoe slow/death's advance for quicker moving.

Gear:

Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete in the encounters of the current Heroic tier? (and if not, what is your character sufficiently geared for?): Yes, ilvl 474. 6th horde side gearscore for DKs according to http://www.wowprogress.com
Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?: Ill be swapping one trinket for BiS Darkmoon trinket this sunday as Darkmoon Fairy event starts. And my gear can use upgrades from MGV replacing lower ilvl gear.
What stat-priority do you currently use (both secondary and primary stats, especially for tanks and healers), when gemming, enchanting and reforging your gear? (for both your main and off-spec):
My source of information is elitistjerks.com so ill just use of this info.
DPS: Strength > Yellow Hit to Cap = Expertise to Cap > Haste > Crit > Mastery.
Tank: Enough health to survive the worst case scenario > Mastery > Dodge/Parry > 7.5% Hit > 7.5% Exp > Haste
I think thats enough info. Always reforge lowest prio stat into higher is a good rule of thumb. When hit/exp capped.

Guild: Twizted reality

Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?: No.
Why do you want to join MoX?: For raiding in serious enviroment, with people enchanted, gemmed properly. Killing the current content while having fun with good players and not slackers.
What type of guild are you looking for?: Raiding guild with good social experience as well.

What are your goals in wow, what do you want to achieve and how long do you plan to keep playing? Im not interested in PvP much. I want to raid seriously, clear the highest possible content, heroic modes, hardmodes - you name it. Im gonna play from dusk till dawn. While bosses will run away crying.

Additional Information: I will very gladly answer any questions if you have any doubts about me a as a player. Im not afraid of criticism, will gladly make any changes that will help me improve my character and playstyle. Done some serious raiding in TBC/Wotlk so i think of myself as very solid player, who can think for himself and move out of fire :) I really want to become a core raider and attend as many raids i can manage.

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter (Yes/No): Yes.

Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know? I really want to raid !!!

Hello Karol,

All in all it looks like a nice application.

What triggered some curiosities  :unknw:

What is the rotation you use and why?
Rotations from Icy Veins etc. are not holy because of rune cooldowns and RNG procs.

What precense do you feel most comfortabele with and why?

Spec:

Rolling Blood
According to many sources a true Blood talent used by the veterans of the third war and the sick and twisted Unholy Gul'dan
Death Knights. My question here is why?

Death Syphon
Nice small heal at the cost of a rune, in my own experience Death Pact is much more benificail, especially when you make a nice macro for it.
My question here is why?

Runic empowerment
Digging into my experience again, way to much RNG.
My question here is why?

Remorseless winter
Well this tier of talents, well either player versus player or Blood
Why did you choose for Remorseless winter?

Glyphs

Dark Succor
Not a raiding perk... Last time I got a killing blow in a raid? Really cannot remember, sorry maybe it is me but maybe you have a reason, I would like to know.

Enchants

Boots
Why are you using a hit enchant, there are more benificial stats that can go on zhe boots.

Gemming

What is the most benificial stat you can gem for and why are you doing this?

Just some curiosities as I said

Hoping for some constructive feedback from a fellow Death Knight.

Kind Regardz,

Descendant of the great generals whom served under the great Gul'dan.
In honour of whom we infest our enemies with diseases, slaughter them in ways only known to those who are fallen
and raise our desecrated enemies in order to face their former friends in battle

Ok, its nice to have a DK ask some questions. First of all I have to say, i didnt have a chance to discuss current state of specs/glyphs with other fellow DK, so some choices might be wrong, but ill try to explain why i chosen some.

I spend most of my time outside raids, as my guild is really not doing well and its just first week of raiding. So i mostly do dailies and farm some stuffs.

Roiling blood - great utility replacing pestilence at all + it deals dmg for the same cost of 1 rune.
Death syphon - yeah, you can argue that death pact is bigger heal, but its once per 2 minutes. I can use death syphon on demand basically how many times i have runes. Its better for our progress runs, im healing with it plenty on feng and other fights if needed.
Runic empowerment - hmm, this one you gave me something to think about. I've read only elitistjerks and i concluded this one would be the best choice to go, i might be wrong. But they say " This is currently the top simming option from this tier and is the best option for frost on multiple targets."

And the last remorseless winter, i use it for outside raid enviroment, pulling lots of mobs while questing and using it for utility as stun. There isnt dps talent anyway in this tier.

Glyph of Dark Succor: actually its very handy on 3rd boss, when you enter the realm of shadows, i survived and healed myself to full without healer with this glyph. And as i re-read elitist jerks, there isnt really much of a DPS increase glyph instead, what do you suggest instead?

Hit on boots was first enchant to get my hit cap. What other choice is there?
175 Hit, 175 Crit, or 140 Mastery and move speed. I go with hit cap as its most valuable stat.

Gemming, best is str, no doubt about it. If you are asking why im using other gems - not just pure str ignoring the socket bonus. Its because its proven to be best gems to use by elitistjerks.com.

Still missing awnsers on these questions, so if you would it would be much apreciated.

Besides that I dislike the CRTL-C + CTRL-V from the webpage you linked. As I posted earlier the guides are not holy, especially elitists (my opinion).

Quote
175 Hit, 175 Crit, or 140 Mastery and move speed
is an exemple, if you would have looked closer there are more enchants for boots  :blum:.

I would like to discuss your replies with my raidleader who will take this to the Officer Team, I bet they will be here shortly after raid time.

Ok, so from top to bottom.

My rotation priority is:
1. Apply diseases.
2. Obliterate the boss around, soul reaper when boss is <35%.
3. Rime proc -> howling blast asap before next obliterate to not waste procs.
4. Frost strike to spend my RP.
5. Horn of winter for extra RP, while waiting for runes to come up.

I feel most comfortable with frost presence (reduced frost strike cost), blood is ofc for tanking, i use unholy where i have to run away to drop fire sparks or boost my movement.

"Rotations from Icy Veins etc. are not holy because of rune cooldowns and RNG procs." I dont understand what do you have on your mind, what icy veins?

I did ctrl+c, ctrl+v when i did quote - its obvious i wouldnt rewrite whole sentence. And i pasted boots enchants too. Nothing else, i dont find a crime here. You say there is more enchants for boots, whats worth mentioning ? You have +haste on boots, i didnt write it here. Anyway that doesnt change my point why i've chosen hit (to get cap).

I hope my answers are good enough. If im wrong with something - please let me know, then i can improve :)

EDIT:
I want to mention i didnt play Cataclysm, just got one char to 85. So im not familiar with many changes blizzard implemented since wotlk. I might be wrong on some things then, i had to learn bit more when MoP hit :)

Hey Wooboo,

Thanks for your application to MoX and your replies so far.
I've just done a little Frost DK research and have come to the following conclusions:
 - Hit cap is perfectly reachable without your feet enchant, so haste enchant would be preferably.
 - Your reforging is far from optimal, importing your character into wowreforge.com shows you are missing out on 800 haste, which is A LOT.
 - For your Tier 1 talent, Plague Leech and Unholy Blight would both be better.
 - For your Tier 4 talent, Death Pact is definitely the better choice, since it won't result in a DPS loss.
 - Gemming strength for you right now is the best choice yes, but you should keep simming yourself everytime you acquire an upgrade to see if your statweights change, since Haste gems provide double the amount of stats and thus might very well pull ahead at some point.

I hope you will use these tips and suggestions while we discuss if one of our raid teams would be interested in having you on their team.
One thing I would like to know is how is your offspec? Are you geared/knowledgeable when it comes to tanking and willing to stay in practise in case one of the tanks can't make it?

Looking forward to your reply,

Segev

Hey,

Thanks for feedback. Ill change boots enchants. Never heard of wowreforge, so i just reforged what i needed on any point. Changed a lot of gear in the process, so yeah its chaotic i guess. Will gladly get another 800 haste then :). I can switch Tier 1 to Plague Leech as UB doesnt look too good for me. Changing to death pact isnt an issue either.

I will try to make this changes in the morning as im leaving for 1-2 days for halloween/day of the dead tomorrow.

My offspec isnt ready yet gear-wiese. Ill have no problem with offtanking when needed when i get it done (if thats important i can get it done in few days). I did some tanking in ulduar hardmodes, so i think i can handle it :)

I did that reforges. I gained haste but lost 1,56% crit, it put im on overcap with expertise, and resulting in tooltip 400 dps loss. Done the talent changes, and didnt touch boots as they are needed for hit cap :)
Dont have time to run the dummies, so idk how it affected my real dps. Will have some time tomorrow evening.

If you would have just written an forfilled application without the officers needing to ask you about lots of side questions you would not have too wait this long, just sayin  ;)

Good luck buddy!
