RAIDER APPLICATION FORM

ABOUT YOU:

Applications type (Social/PvP/Raider):Raider
Name: Jacek
Age: 22
Country: Poland
What other games apart from WoW do you play?:
TES series (when I sat to morrowind i spent 1,5 year doing nothing but playing this game), League of Legends, every single shooter with my friends, Portal series, farmville, MTGO, Heroes of Might and Magic series, SC2, Diablo series and many more :)
A bit about yourself:
Hello everyone,
I’m Jacek, 22 years old econometrics student from Warsaw. It’s hard to describe who I am on forum, but I’ll try my best.
Well I'm a gamer, and what I do is I play games. I don't really play them, I master them. I have most fun, when getting the most of my character. I've been playing many single player crpg games in this way, trying to really beat the game, not only finish it. The same situation is in WoW, I want to have an opportunity to play at the highest level with passionate people who actually care to be good and strive for it.
I will bring good humour, decent dps and handful of information for the warriors. I'm a newshound and I follow all the newest information and share it. I'm a reliable and punctual person with a lot of ideas and I hope they will be helpful during the progress raids. I'm also willing to help others when they need it, but I prefer to give a fishing rod instead of the actual fish.
So that's who I am, I try to be hardcore, but on the other hand I have a life and a gf who is alive (was alive last time I've checked), so I'm not detached from reality to the fullest. I'm an internet geek and I try to follow new memes that show up, I'm also a mac user, so if any pc user want a duel in from of Orgrimmar your are welcome. I have a dog.. ok I don't have it.. he died of starvation 3 years ago and is now awaiting Deathwing's arrival in my backyard. Well.. and that's it.
Above wall of text derives from my first application, but it didn’t change over 2 years. The only thing that changed is the fact I use more things to enhance my gaming - spreadsheets, 3rd party programs/applications to enhance my character gear selection etc. I still have the same GF I had 2 years ago ;p

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:

Armory Link:
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/ghostlands/Vallyria/advanced
Character name: Vallyria
Class: Warrior
Level: 85
Current server: Ghostlands
Spec(s): Prot/Arms
Professions: JC/Enchanting
How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?: around 2000-2500 minutes per week, usually during the daytime + raids.
What high level alts do you have?:
I’ve got 4 alts that are being my profession workers (or, to be honest, slaves) on Ghostlands. However, I am not willing to transfer them during trial :)

ABOUT YOU AS PLAYER:

Do you have Teamspeak? (Voice communication is essential to our raiding and it's highly recommended you get a mic if you don't have one already):
No I do not have TS. However, I have Mumble/Ventrilo, so handling TS shouldn’t be a problem at all. Not to mention, than when I said something on Vent after 1 year of being in guild, /ra was full of “Who the hell is this guy?”

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use:
I am using Real UI compilation suite.
*Threat Table, Skada, Vox Encounters
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info16068-RealUI.html

We expect all members to attend any raids with food and flasks to last the whole raid night and being repaired and ready to pull at 20.00

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30. On which days will you be available for the whole duration? (A raidgroup usually only raids up to 3 nights a week)
Wednesday: This
Thursday: And this
Friday: however, not this
Saturday: neither this
Sunday: This is OK tho
Monday: sure
Tuesday: why not

Have you been in another guild? (Yes/No):
Yes. At the moment, my guild is dying due to lack of people and dying server (no recruitment).

Which one(s)? And why did you leave?:
Ashen Dawn - EU Ghostlands

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap:
T11 - 7/12 hc (although, you might want to check my previous main - http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/ghostlands/Sillvy/advanced)
T12 - 6/7 hc post-nerf (why post nerf? AD was reforming back then, and I took a bachelor’s degree to the knee!)
T13 - 1 /8 hc pre-nerf (and then guild started dying)

You may check my activities during recent weeks and see that I didn’t play recently. Explanation is that: I was in India taking a break from uni and winter in Europe.

IMPORTANT:

Now when you are done with the "basics", we want you to explain a little about different aspects of your character.

Character:

Why did you chose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?:
My previous guild was in demand for tank. After having a thought about ‘how-many-token-users-we-had’ I decided that being 7th Vanquisher user won’t be that good. Also, I do love warriors mobility.
Jewelcrafting: Up until 4.3 and epic gems it was the best professions for tanks/dps. The reason for that was the fact that it was the only prof that boosted your mastery level and it provided better stamina bonus (by 2 more than Enchanting in example). However, after release of epic gems, bonuses provided by JC was greatly diminished, therefore I am considering changing this prof for Blacksmithing.
Enchanting: Profession as any other - 80 Str/120 Stam bonus is pretty decent for warriors. Also, it’s quite nice for my gold amount (especially since Shatter abuse at the start of 4.3)

Talent specialisation:

Would you be willing to change your build for the guild?: Obviously, changing build is a part of being prepared for specific encounter.
Do you have two viable PvE specs?: I’m no-pvp guy as in, your eye will bleed when you see me in arena (although i heard i can roflstomp everything pretty easily as a warrior)

Gear:

Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete in the Dragon Soul encounters?:
MS:
i definitely need better 2nd ring (as 378 is a shame /before you ask - since i created this toon later, I wasn’t able to get FL rep to exalted - I am still missing 2 hc clears) and head/head upgrade. Since those can be acquired only by getting tokens I am pretty stuck with that for now.
As for other upgrades, with the progress of my gear and easier CTC cap, I’ll need stamina trinket.
From smaller upgrades, I need Souldrinker normal threat- and dpswise.
OS:
385 ilvl, move along, move along. The whole gear there is not definitely prepared for DS. However, I am farming VP + LFR for 4set and I am looking for BS with DPS bracers (it’s hard on our realm yo). Also, because it’s mainly 384 i didn’t use epic gems.

Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?:
I think the above point explained it pretty well - tanks are basically tied to their ilvl stronger than any other class. Atm I started gemming stamina for EH.
Also, you might think that I am under CTC counting my avoidance, althought I am using different set for flasks. Instead of using 450 Stamina flask, I am using Stamina scroll + mastery elixir. If you need explanation staying behind this, I’ll provide it in post.

Guild:

Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?: No
Why do you want to join MoX?: After being contacted by your officer, I researched your guild and found out that you are bunch of players that, no matter how hardcore looks, want to have fun and progress in WoW. You also look really dedicated to the task, which is really what I am looking for.
What type of guild are you looking for?:
Semihardcore - from what I heard about your guild, you are exactly like this.

What are your goals in wow, what do you want to achieve and how long do you plan to keep playing?
Goals: I have a couple different goals in this game. First of all, I want to become better player than I am now - I understand the fact, that there is always room for improvement, therefore I take criticism humbly, instead of acting emo.
When it comes to the content itself, drake meta achievement is what I am aiming for. I am an achievement whore, so you may count on me with doing all those silly things to enhance epeen points.
How long I plan to keep playing: I really do not know - I managed to play almost same amount when I was working full time during summer, so until WoW will intercept with my family life, there is no reason to abandon this lovely game.

Additional Information:

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter (Yes/No): YES
Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know?

Writer of this post is:
*Apple fan - yeah right, I love totally overpriced stuff that is used for nothing more than entertainment.
*although I’m using HTC smartphone
*red haired - another con, since early years I wasn’t able to make friends :<
*Polish - polar bears drinking vodka is quite common here
*not a native English user - so excsue me for silly mistakes
*bad jokes lover - as you was able to read this post, you certainly know

I’ll gladly answer any question you’d like to ask me after reading my application.

You obviously know how to write applications, because I'm loving you already (no homo).
And from what I can read you definitely are the kind of person we are looking for to strengthen our team with ;)

Now usually I would go into more detail, but since the armory is down, I only have one question for now.

Looking at:
Quote
Do you have Teamspeak? (Voice communication is essential to our raiding and it's highly recommended you get a mic if you don't have one already):
No I do not have TS. However, I have Mumble/Ventrilo, so handling TS shouldn’t be a problem at all. Not to mention, than when I said something on Vent after 1 year of being in guild, /ra was full of “Who the hell is this guy?”

Talking on TS, calling out when you're using cooldowns, communicating with the rest of the raid (especially as main tank), would that be any problem for you?

Other then that, I'll try and take a closer look to your character later on, to see if there's anything that can be improved besides the gear upgrades you've already mentioned.

Looking forward to your reply,

/Sagiv

Using TS is not a problem - I've got headset up and running and I am not shy to use it :) Although I definitely prefer not to speak unless it's needed :)

@Farmville: Sadly, it was a troll. Since I told in my guild that whenever anybody leaves to SWToR a cow dies on my farm, I am left with two chickens atm.

Internet connection: 20/2 mbps during day, 40/4 mbps during night. It gives me 'around' 40-50ms tops, at nights it's around 15-20. Also, from time to time my ISP resets the connection (not on daily basis though) but this have never happened before midnight.
edit: to back my claim

Jeey I get to play bad cop!

Thanks guys, we appreciate the feedback, but this is not the thread to discuss/show off ISP connections.
Please keep it on topic and if you want to discuss ISPs, feel free to make a new thread in the tech section.

Right, as I said I wanted to have a look at your talents and glyphs and what not.
Having read up a couple of guides and talking to people that also play a Prot Warrior, seems like you've really focussed all of your talents on a single target spec. Which would probably also be the spec I'd go for, seeing as only Yor'sahj, Spine and Madness HC seem to be fights where a more AoE focussed spec could be useful.
Glyphs are looking good. Most guides say glyph of Shockwave is a musthave and that got me really wondering; do you even use that ability on boss fights?
And even your off spec seems to be decent, altho you probably won't need it anytime soon, because we want to see you tank!

Conclusion: everything looks pico bello! Meaning I would like to offer you a Raider trial in Team Blue!
Also, everyone is impressed with your application and looking forward to having you on the team! So hopefully in a couple of weeks you will be ready to fully replace Beartits with Belftits ^^

Looking forward to welcoming you to the guild and let us know when you arrive on Grim Batol so we can get your trial started!

/Sagiv

PS. One more question, which is totally not related to your application:
Do Prot Warriors ever use Spell Reflection in PvE? If you ask me that would be an awesome abilty on certain fights in DS, so I'm just curious if it's being used at all ^^

Hi,
First of all - thank you for trial, I hope I will stand up to your standards.

When it comes to my talent spec, I found that the only points you can change are the one's in Safeguard. I used safeguard a lot on our Morchok hc kill (since the other soaker, rogue, was keeping really high = it eased healing). So, since our
Secondly, questions you asked:

Shockwave: I use it, especially at the beginning of fight since it cannot be parried, which means higher Threat Expected Value. That's way I have less problems with maintaining threat at the very beginning. Also, in terms of dps it's one of the best spells, so yeah, we try to use that. (problem with warriors is the fact that they are not researched by players as good as bears i.e.)

Spell Reflection: If spell can be spell reflected it's used, however most of boss spells are not spellreflectable.
