MoX is an abbreviation for "Malevolents of Xibalba."
We are an online gaming community named and based loosely on the history of the Maya. More information on the Maya can be found in our "Mayan Culture " section which we have included as so many people respond to being told our name with "what the hell does that mean?" For those not familiar with online gaming that simply means we're a collection of like-minded friends who gather together to play games together as a team. Sadly there is no clever story or poignant reason as to why the guild is named after the Maya, it just kind of happened, many years ago. Since then the [MoX] tag we wear has become known within the gaming community as we ourselves have grown fond of our identity. We have resisted urges to change it, so MoX still lives on today.
Xibalba - The underworld of the dead in Maya mythology.
Malevolents - Not gramatically correct, but it fits with the guild name. We aren't evil as such, we don't seek to harm everyone, but we do wish harm on our enemies. Lawful evil.
Malevolent - Having or exhibiting ill will; wishing harm to others; malicious. Having an evil or harmful influence: malevolent stars .
The guild was formed in 1998 whilst playing the game Ultima Online, and is now predominately a PvP (player versus player) guild who focus on battles with other guilds and players. We are a cross-game community who play several games simultaneously, but we generally focus on persistent world games, MMOs. Our members have years of experience playing many games in the genre, such as Ultima Online, EverQuest, Asherons Call, Anarchy Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane, PlanetSide, Star Wars Galaxies and Horizons. We will continue to move to new and exciting worlds are they become available to us.
If you have any specific questions about the guild please read through the sections in the "Charter," which covers most aspects of how the guild runs. Any unanswered questions you may still have after that should be directed to our forum. If you wish to join MoX please continue to read through our "policies" and "rules" sections.
