WoW Social Application
« on: 09 March, 2013, 11:42:26 pm »
Applications type (Social/PvP/Raider): * Social ( for now )

Name: * Alan Davey

Age: * 32

Country: * Stockport, England

What other games apart from WoW do you play?: * At present, BF3, FC3, Crysis 3 and Dishonoured.

A bit about yourself:

* Father of a lovely baby girl, Gemma. Who will be 1 year old on Monday. Husband of a lovely ( most of the time ) wife, Dawn. I work 5 days a week and look after Gemma on my 2 days off. Gaming time has been severely disrupted over the last 12 months... I love my football, I work as a social media co-ordinator as a 2nd fun job for a fantasy football game. Gaming has always been my main hobby and passion though. I like my Casino and Poker nights once a month and the odd trip to the pub. All in all, I have a pretty simple and happy life.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:

Armory Link: * http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/draenor/Glargy/advanced

Character name: * Glargy
Class: * Warlock
Spec(s): * Affliction
Level: * 90
Professions: * Tailoring and Enchanting, working on maxing out Cooking and Fishing.

How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?:

* Usually, Tues, Weds, after 5pm until around midnight. Sat and Sun, between 7pm until around midnight. Other nights vary depending on work. Some Saturdays I will be out ofc.

What high level alts do you have?: * None that would be transferred onto your server.

Why did you chose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?:

* Been around since the very start. Pretty much played every class up to level 70 or 85. I've raid-healed for the last 2 expansions and wanted to focus more on a pure DPS class in MOP. Warlocks ( IMO ) are one of the more fun and complex DPS classes. Multi-dotting, refreshing dots bearing in mind all the different procs is fun for me. Timing every spell correctly, is more refreshing and challenging to me than lightning strike spam. Apologies Shamans, I'm sure there is a lot more to Elemental DPS than lightning spam these days. Professions wise, it was just a nice fit. Tailoring as a cloth wearer and Enchanting goes hand in hand with it.

ABOUT YOU AS PLAYER:

Do you have Teamspeak? (It is not very important, but this is our current Voice Comm server, so if you want to join in on the chat, it sure is handy!) * Yes.

Our Raid times are from 20:00 to 0:00 server time with invites starting at 19:30. This will also be the case when doing our social/alt raids so make sure you can stay for the duration if you sign up for one of these runs.

Have you been in another guild? * Many over the years.

Which one(s)? And why did you leave?:

* Dark Omen and this one ( come to that at the end ) are the only ones that come to mind. There have been a few others as I've followed old RL friends around since vanilla. The only reason for any Guild quits have usually been a break from the game. The same old story of thinking SWTOR, GW2 would hold the same addictive candle that WOW does.

Feel free to list your PvE experiences in the game:

* Pretty much done everything before MOP. Before the little one I was a 4 night a week raider, aiming for server firsts and dedicating a lot of my time to theory-crafting and doing my job better with whatever character I was using. Fun times.

If you apply for PvP:
- What experience do you have in Rated BGs/Arenas? (What is your highest rank, and in which season?):
- Do you have a PvP spec and glyphs and/or willing to change from your PvE to PvP spec if taken along to PvP events?:
- What current gear for PvP do you currently have?:

* Currently I'm applying for a social position. With the little one at the age she is at, I will be looking at PvPing  quite a lot, as it doesn't require the exact sort of time dedication as full time raiding. I've enjoyed RBGs and have hit 1800 arena rating before. Nothing special but if I put my mind to it and focus, it would be fun to try and do better. Currently the character that I will be using has the crafted PvP gear and only has about 4 hours played at 90.

Explain a little about what you like to do in World of Warcraft:

* As much as I can with the time I have. I enjoy playing the AH and making easy money. It's handy to have the mobile armory to use during downtime at work. PvP is a nice way to spend a few hours in the game. I try and complete dailies each evening I'm online, run a HC or complete my weekly LFR. I'm not the best grinder/farmer, but I have always enjoyed being able to sort out my own consumables and helping the guild with flasks, feasts, enchants, whatever is needed. I usually do this from the profits I make on the AH whilst sat at work... The most fun I have is raiding, more on that at the end to.

YOU AND THE GUILD:

Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?: * Currently no, I've not been on Grim Batol for a long time.

Explain a bit about why you want to join MoX?:

* The main reason is I want a guild for life situation. Sounds a bit bleh but I know what MoX is about and I want to be involved in a guild/community that doesn't just stick to one game. It would be nice to jump on BF3 or Planetside 2 with people from the same guild. The gaming world inevitably changes and I want the chance to stay in a guild that doesn't. So when ( maybe never ) WoW isn't the b all, I will move on with the players I have played it with to the next game and so on. When I was in MoX, this was a long time ago, I moved across with a guild called Dark Omen. We were struggling for raiding numbers on a RP server and attempted a merge with you. For the most part it was fine but when my RL friends moved on it was a difficult decision but I followed them. These were people I'd played WoW for 3-4 years with. Over the last few years my RL friends have moved on to console gaming or have pretty much quit MMO gaming. I might be 32 with a child but I'm not ready for that at all. So I know your expectations and understand what you require of your members and what you offer.

What type of guild are you looking for?: * See above really.

Additional Information:

* I think I've covered pretty much everything. There is one thing though. For now I'm applying for a social membership. The reason I am not applying for a raiding one is firstly, as I will be joining with a new level 90 I am not sufficiently geared. The main reason however, is at this time I can't commit to 3 days raiding. The little one is sleeping better ( thank god ) so I know that in the near future I will be able to commit to it. I just don't want to put pressure on myself until I know I can give 110%. When I am raid worthy I'm not to shabby. I mentioned it before but I theory craft to death. Whatever small change in gemming, enchanting, re-forging, rotation, is needed to help me perform better, I will research it, test it and implement it. If I am to be successful with my application, I will be transferring Glargy from Draenor to Grim Batol.

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter (Yes/No): * Yes

Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know?

* The only thing I can say is this is something I really want. I will be paying for a character transfer based on the knowledge I have of MoX and even though its only £15, its still money. I know that will be a very small price to pay if I can join up with you all again. To feel part of a proper Guild again would be great.

Thanks for taking your time to read this and I hope to see you all in the game soon. Glargy out.

Hey Glargy,

Wonderful application!
We're always welcoming vets such as yourself looking to be part of a community and want to have fun outside of the world of raiding.

Just would like to inform you that we currently have two WoW camps:
Horde - Grim Batol (Alliance dominated)
Horde - Twisting Nether (99% Horde)

You're welcome to join either one of them or both :)

Thanks for the reply. Brilliant news. I didn't even notice the 2 different guilds. Just had a look at the realm forums and I think I would be best going to Twisting Nether. I like a busy economy and I don't want to make annoying dailies even more annoying by being outnumbered on a PvP server.

As it's Mothers Day and the little ones first birthday tomorrow, it might be Tuesday before I complete the transfer and get some game time in. Thanks again.

I really can't remember. I think I was either on my Mage ( arcane blast crazy haste build ) or could have been my resto/enhance Shaman. Could have even been a Resto Druid. Most of the character names I have used have been some form of Arg lol. Parg, Karg, Glarg blah blah blah.

Now I think about it, was there a Hunter called Norn in this guild at the time? If so I could have been using a SV hunter and been very competitive with him in DPS and used to discuss rotations and builds with him. In that case I could have been Pyrah, Nyrah. I'm really clutching at straws trying to remember.

Yep Norn used to be GM/Raid leader back in the days but I don't think there are many of those MoX days around still playing WoW;
most of them moved on to other games or IRL, like your friends..

Anyhow, when you arrive on TN, feel free to poke any Member or higher for an invite :)
I'll explain how trial works when I catch you online.
