WoW Red Team Raider App - RShaman
« on: 12 March, 2012, 12:10:07 am »
About me:

Application type:
Raider.
Name: James
Age: 19
Country: UK - Southwest England
What other games apart from WoW do you play?: Mass Effect 3, Syndicate, FF13/13-2, Wipeout HD, Team Fortress 2, Battlefield 3
A bit about yourself: I love to play games. When I'm not at work I'm usually sat on my pc browsing the internet, playing games or w/e, anything fun really. I work part-time to fuel my gaming hobby (not literally) but am also hoping to learn to drive soonish. Other than that I live to have fun, to progress and to challenge myself instead of sufficing for easy content (I can't bring myself to do 8/8 LFR/normal when HC exists!)

About Kenjai, Troll Shaman:

Armory Link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/grim-batol/Kenjai/advanced

Character name: Kenjai
Class: Shaman
Level: 85
Current server: Grim Batol
Spec(s): Resto / Elemental
Professions: Mining / Engineering
How often do you play WoW (typical weekly playtime and which hours)?: N/A. I don't play it so much recently since my now ex-guild disbanded recently out of thin air, before that people weren't attending raids and it just slipped into nothingness, so I've been playing other games in the time being.
What high level alts do you have?: I only have one on Grim Batol, but here's their armories;

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/grim-batol/Kusaka/advanced
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/bloodhoof/Luxxy/advanced
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/bloodhoof/Xuno/advanced
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/bloodhoof/Leyari/advanced

About me as a player

Do you have Teamspeak? Yes I do.

List the relevant raiding add-ons you use: My whole UI is built for raiding so I'd say just about everything :P. Core-wise I have the standard Skada/DBM combo lurking in there.

Here's an oldish picture. UI is pretty much the same now except action bars have been altered a bit x]. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7167/6844319517_9d7b26ac63_o.png I was also appropriately named Barackoshama in this picture, don't mind that. :)

On which days will you be available for the whole duration?
Every day except Saturday, upon which I'm working 2pm-10pm UK time.

Have you been in another guild? (Yes/No): Yes.

Which one(s)? And why did you leave?: T'was called Fahrenheit, but as said above it slowly dwindled these past few weeks and eventually died the other day. Guild Leader never contacted us about it, confirmed he secretly gave himself DKP to someone and ran off with all the guild money, happy days :).

During raids however, progression was slow due to countless silly mistakes, ones you wouldn't expect people to make on their 14th week of raiding DS. It got really frustrating and I was on the verge of quitting anyway for those reasons.

Please list your relevant raid experience, stating which encounters you have personal experience of at the current level cap: I joined late into Cataclysm, about... 8-9 months ago now. I've done...

T11: 12/12 normal
T12: 6/7 Heroic (7/7 normal on an alt)
T13: 4/8 HC - Morchok, Yor'sahj, Warlord, Ultraxion, full knowledge of Hagara and some knowledge of Warmaster.

IMPORTANT:

Character:

Why did you chose the class you are now playing and the professions you selected?: I chose Shaman because at the time I wanted to be a Melee DPS, something I'd never done before. Paladin/Warrior/DK/Rogue didn't appeal to me in the slightest... but there was something about the Shaman which made me HAD to pick it. When I got to 85 I tried resto (initially for lols and rofls) after winning loads of Resto gear in ZG/ZA... accidentaly joined a heroic, successfully healed it, found I really enjoyed it and then I've been resto ever since!

Talent specialisation:

Would you be willing to change your build for the guild?: Of course.
Do you have two viable PvE speccs?: My Resto spec is viable, my Ele spec still needs some big upgrades here and there (namely trinkets) and I have to work out the best stat weights for it, otherwise it's going pretty well.

Gear:

Do you feel your character is sufficiently geared to compete in the Dragon Soul encounters?: Undoubtedly, I just need to replace my last FL HC trinket with Heart of Unliving when it finally drops(!!)
Where do you think your current equipment is lacking now?: I think there's a few gems I could swap around. I haven't been using full epics yet since my moneys been so poor and I've had to sell them off to keep it stable. Actual gear wise though, my gear all has pretty nice stats on them, it's just getting the HC equivelants now.

Guild:

Do you know anyone in MoX who can vouch for you?: Nope! I'm new to Grim Batol so don't know anyone outside of my ex-guild.
Why do you want to join MoX?: Everyone else probably says this but I want to join it for three simple reasons; The atmosphere, the raiding and the fun factor.  I looked through multiple guilds but MoX seemed to be the one best suited for me and Akarii to progress our characters in every way possible. It also means a chance to get to know lots of new faces on this realm :)
What type of guild are you looking for?: Mature, friendly, does things outside of raiding, has determination to clear content without a fully hardcore attitude etc etc!

What are your goals in wow, what do you want to achieve and how long do you plan to keep playing?
My goals are to get Savior of Azeroth (I hope :)) before MoP hits the shelves, get the most out of my character, make new friends and generally have fun in the game. I plan to keep playing as long as long as I'm in a guild I love and I certainly want to experience MoP with one.

Additional Information:

Not really additional information BUT. When MoP releases, depending on how it is in the beta I've been really tempted to be a Mistweaver Monk (healer). Don't get me wrong, I love Shaman but as I said earlier I play to have fun whilst progressing and if Monk has a better playstyle for me then I'll definitely be taking advantage of it. ;)

Confirmation that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the MoX Charter (Yes/No): Yes.

Is there anything else you feel is relevant to your application or that you would like us to know?
This is sort of a semi-joint/separate application with Akarii the Druid. We're both good friends and are basically looking for a new guild to settle into and MoX seems like a huge step in the right direction.

Me and Akarii have been healing partners ever since he switched from his Warlock to his Druid. It seems pretty difficult to get in a guild with 2 healers so one of us made the sacrifice of going DPS and that's how he's now a boomkin x]

If you want anymore info then shout, I'm more than happy to talk.

Hey Kenjaj,

Nice application, very thorough. We appreciate that.

Gear-wise your character looks good, semi-lack of epic gems, but I'm not sure how strict Team Red is on that. We would however like to see your professions maxed out, or to a level where you can benefit from them. Think you forgot to mention why you picked the professions you picked.

I would love to see some feedback from the Rshammies in Team Blue, see if they can help you improve anything spec/glyph/reforging wise, before offering you a trial.

Like said, your application and gear looks good, so let's hope for some positive feedback from the shammies!

Kind regards,

Sagiv

PS. Stop slacking on your alts, we could use some pro Deeps in our alt raids!

About the professions, I chose mining for money since I'm awful at playing the AH and always seem to suffer from gold problems. Engineering was simply because I love the utility of it (just got a little way to go before I can get the intellect tinker).

Since I can't afford the gems, I need to wait until DS drops them for me, fun times. Saying that, I also am not going to epic gem 397 gear for that reason as I feel it's a bit of a waste, especially with the 10% nerf.

But yeah, any advice would be nice. I feel I'm doing the right thing (916 haste exactly, 2.6k spirit, stack mastery with a side dish of crit). Heart of Unliving will change that to about 1.8k spirit though and alot more crit when I finally get my hands on one. :p

Ty for response!

Edit: If anyone wants to run some 5 man(s) with me, just pop me a message in IG. ^^

Points:

- 918 hastecap, yours 916 (why is there a cap?)
- Proffesions still meh... dispite of explenation
- Why take 2/3 Acuity, if you are main reforging to crit? take 3/3 and focus more on mastery/haste

Specwise you look a bit of a tank healer, and glyph and reforging wise like a raidhealer, i dont know which role you are most comfortabele with....

Gemming wise... us say you only gem BiS to epic gems... Hands.... +40 intel. bit confusing in my eyes... also your ledger has a next to naught drop chance as is the HC shield.

All in all a good apply, just a bit confusing in my eyes, I still need to consort with Ramsay.
Would be nice to see a Resto shaman in team red!

916 is the first haste cap with WoA totem, not 918 :p. I'm mainly reforged for Mastery, Crit is what I get after the spirit/haste caps (2.6k spirit is my goal) have been reached and I can't get mastery on the item(s) in question.

Edit: Changed talents and put explanation at bottom

As for glyphs, I have what's optimal for my playstyle. I rarely use HW so the glyph is close to useless whereas ES has 100% uptime so I get much more healing throughput out of it in comparison.

As mentioned earlier our other healer was always a bit of a slacker so I've ended up both tank/raid healing instead of focusing purely on the raid which I feel more comfortable with. I can do either, but I'm leaning more towards raid healing in terms of fun factor and my personal skill level. Also I sort of feel all DS encounters encourage raid healers to switch on and off between tanks due to the heavy AoE component of the fight.

Quote
Gemming wise... us say you only gem BiS to epic gems... Hands.... +40 intel. bit confusing in my eyes... also your ledger has a next to naught drop chance as is the HC shield.
As said in some earlier post, I've been having money issues, so I had to sell my last Bold Queen's Garnet to get the money I needed for flasks/food/blue gems etc. Since I'm on a good footing now I can safely gem everything when I get them. Only have the ledger since my last item is a 378 shield and phys damage on a healer is extremely rare in DS so I can afford that until the shield drops. Been a bit unlucky on my drops so meh ;)

If you have anymore Q's or confusion or whatever feel free to state it.

Edit with talents; Updated my spec to what I believe is optimal; There's only two things I can see being "Interchangeable" and put into an OS for specific fights. These are Cleansing Waters and Ancestral Swiftness.

Cleansing Waters - For now the only use for it is Zon'ozz and Hagara, so the 2 points in means I can heal the tank for 12% more with riptide/ES instead of having 2 points sitting still doing nothing for the non-dispel fights.

Ancestral Swiftness - Only use is in Hagara, pretty much.

PS. Stop slacking on your alts, we could use some pro Deeps in our alt raids!
My Warrior was originally intended to alt raid, got her to tank FL the day after she dinged to 85, but lack of care/dedication meant alt raids were halted completely. Tried them again in DS to no avail :<. Would love to bring my hunter though! She's got 2/5 tier gear, but everything else is pvp :p

Healing class leader person?

As I said GD app, and red needs a resto shaman who knows what hes doing, instead of me tanking  :pardon:

Spine I'm in the process of reading up on ^^. That and Madness are my only real 'iffy' areas atm. Warmaster is simply an issue of experiencing the fight hands on.

So I think we've taken a look at almost every aspect of your application there is and I think it's safe to say you that you know what you're doing.

I would like to offer you a trial in Team Red under one condition: which is that you have your professions maxxed out before your trial ends. After all, us Officers have got better things to do then having to kick people's asses so they level their professions ;)

Feel free to poke on of the (in-game) Officers ingame and we'll explain how your trial works and throw you a guild invite :)
